Westward Ho Hotel, hotel in Folkestone

Situated in Folkestone and with Folkestone Beach reachable within 600 metres, Westward Ho Hotel features express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi throughout the property...

The location was excellent, within comfortable walking distance of the centre of town and the coastal walk. I had an ensuite room which was spacious, well appointed with the necessary coffee and tea etc, and clean. I'm a theatre nurse and a little OCD about cleanliness; the room and hotel satisfied my picky expectations.

View Hotel Folkestone, hotel in Folkestone

Only 5 minutes’ walk from Folkestone town centre, View Hotel Folkestone is a 4-star boutique hotel that features The Cliffe Restaurant & Bar and sea views.

Nice quirky hotel on the clifftop just a short walk into town or the harbour. All the staff were excellent and went above and beyond to make our short stay extremely pleasant, a special mention to Phillipa and Ben. A nice touch is the free bottled water supplied in the room. The breakfast is the usual buffet style so can be a bit hit and miss if you like a full English as the food can have been in the warmers a while, but there is plenty of choice, again excellent staff on both mornings.

It wasn't my first choice (I was catching the channel ferry and I would have preferred to have been in Dover) but what a pleasant surprise. I was travelling with my dog and I was amazed at how dog friendly the town was. I particularly liked the coastal walks and I enjoyed reading the informational plaques around the town. One thing I found so touching was Remembrance Road adorned with the handmade poppies. I was struck by how much effort the council has devoted to highlighting Folkestone's attractions and making them accessible to visitors. I enjoyed just wandering around the town with my dog and appreciating it's history and sights. Folkestone turned out to be a serendipitous experience and I'm glad that I didn't stay in Dover.

Folkestone has reasonable shopping facilities for a small town. It is close to some very beautiful areas of Kent, like the Elham Valley. It has excellent train service on the high speed trains from London Canterbury is about 45 minutes drive away and well worth a visit. If you enjoy walking in scenic countryside Folkestone is surrounded by it. The town is hilly and getting down to the harbour means negotiating a fairly steep gradient, so might be less enjoyable or more challenging for people with mobility problems. There is a bus service. There are restaurants, pubs, places to eat out but if you're on a budget there is an Asda, a Sainbury and a Lidl store in the town centre where you can buy food. There is a good bus service to Dover and to Canterbury.

On arrival we were upgraded to a lovely room with four poster bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. During dinner our waiter was very apologetic that we needed to wait for our starter and couldn’t have done more to look after us. The food was delicious. We needed to leave early in the morning and so staff opened up the restaurant early for us so that we could still have a cooked breakfast before we left. The manager asked us frequently how our stay was. We would use this hotel again if in the area.

We have stayed at this Folkestone Holiday Inn Express several times and always receive a warm welcome when checking in. The hotel is extremely well located for the EuroTunnel. The rooms are basic, clean, comfortable and relatively spacious. Breakfast is very good - cereals, breads, yoghurts, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausages etc. and the vending machines deliver hot, fresh coffee, tea, chocolate etc. Thank you to all the staff (in all departments) who work hard to provide a good experience for guests.

My room was clean and not too tiny. I needed an open window (hottest day of the year ? Thurs 16 June) at night and there was a strong external light, luckily not directly in to the room. Good tea / coffee facilities. Sadly booming TV next door and later snoring, so walls very thin. Excellent full breakfast which was great value too. Pleasant, calm dining area. This was a cheap hotel - real value for money but you can't then be too picky. Staff were pleasant and very tolerant !

Great location , family rooms are clean and spacious. Had to call the number on the door prior to check in where a friendly staff member came to meet us and explained about the parking and check in . Family room had all the amenities such as wifi , tea & coffee making facilities, bottled water and complimentary chocolates on the bed was a nice touch . It’s not a 5 star hotel but if you want a clean basic place whilst in the area I would recommend

As I have a mobility scooter we were relocated to a ground floor room. This, for obvious reasons, was not the executive room for which I had paid. Also, we did not get the continental breakfast for which I had paid, at £6 per person per night. So, I reckon we are due a partial refund. I have to say, however, that John was superb and a credit to the hotel. He helped me get my scooter in and out of the hotel, as all entrances had steps.

Such a lovely property, really nice and comfortable room with everything you need, great breakfast - tasty and a good choice of hot and cold food. Very attentive and friendly staff. Fresh homemade cake in the afternoon was amazing - best banana bread I’ve ever eaten. Great location too, only a few minutes from the sea. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Folkestone.

We have stayed at this hotel before and were looking forward to visiting again. We had a really lovely room with a sea view, the hotel is in a perfect location for beach, walks and shopping. All the staff are lovely and go out of their way to help. We had breakfast in the restaurant and that was superb. Looking forward to going back next year (or sooner if we can)!
