We spent only 1 night in the hotel. The double and the single beds were comfortable with a clean toilete. The hotel has a big parking area but if you cant find any you can still park on the street for free. There is a path 10 minutes from the hotel into the mountain. The full english breakfast was delicious definitely worth it. I can highly recommend the hotel if you would like to spend a few days in the lakes.
With free Wi-Fi throughout, the award-winning Trout Hotel is situated on the banks of the River Derwent, in Cockermouth. The town is adjacent to the childhood home of poet William Wordsworth.

Very friendly professional staff, everything we needed was done in the room, lovely outdoor space to have a drink next to the river. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant!

Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Special shout out to the young barman (the Bolton Fan - im rubbish with names) very personable and excellent customer service. The apartment room was fantastic, and the views from the double bedroom 😍. It's the second time I've stayed here and wont be the last.

The location was perfect for hiking in and around the area. The staff, the room, the evening meal and breakfast were all exceptional!
Amazing value for money.
The building itself with the backdrop of the mountains was truly breathtaking.
Highly recommended.
Will definitely be going back.

amazing location - far from bustle, crowds and heavy traffic, surrounded by beautiful nature. Be ready to sleep in comfy beds with complete silence (only birds singing!) all the night! Sarah (the host) is so friendly and ready to help/advice. The place is also an excellent spot for hikers - lot of routes with different options depending on your fitness level. Highly recommend this place for those who seek simplicity, silence and beautiful nature. You can reach the place by walk (1-1.5 hour) or renting taxi from Keswick.
Boasting garden views, Rowrah Hall - The Old Dairy offers accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 22 km from Buttermere.

We were there for open water swimming and loweswater was just down the road from where we were staying. A little walk brings you to the pretty lake's edge. It is a good location for reaching Crummock and Buttermere. Had a very nice meal in the Kirkstile Inn.

During my short stay here I found places to cycle and walk and all routes around and about are very scenic and tranquil.
I need to come back to take full advantage of what this area has to offer, so will definitely have some plans to do just that.
Weather was not at its best but still enjoyable in rain and can expect it to be even better on sunny days.
Roads are quite narrow so be careful and do not drive fast.

Just a small hamlet really near the lake of the same name and about 5 miles from the nearest town of Cockermouth, birthplace of poet William Wordsworth. A peaceful haven with a church, a pub, a village hall and very little else but for those just wishing to relax in a peaceful environment you would be hard put to find a better place to spend a few days.
