The Coledale Inn, hotel in Loweswater

Just 2 miles from Keswick, The Coledale is a 19th-century country inn with 2 traditional bars and elegant rooms.

We spent only 1 night in the hotel. The double and the single beds were comfortable with a clean toilete. The hotel has a big parking area but if you cant find any you can still park on the street for free. There is a path 10 minutes from the hotel into the mountain. The full english breakfast was delicious definitely worth it. I can highly recommend the hotel if you would like to spend a few days in the lakes.

We were there for open water swimming and loweswater was just down the road from where we were staying. A little walk brings you to the pretty lake's edge. It is a good location for reaching Crummock and Buttermere. Had a very nice meal in the Kirkstile Inn.

During my short stay here I found places to cycle and walk and all routes around and about are very scenic and tranquil. I need to come back to take full advantage of what this area has to offer, so will definitely have some plans to do just that. Weather was not at its best but still enjoyable in rain and can expect it to be even better on sunny days. Roads are quite narrow so be careful and do not drive fast.

Just a small hamlet really near the lake of the same name and about 5 miles from the nearest town of Cockermouth, birthplace of poet William Wordsworth. A peaceful haven with a church, a pub, a village hall and very little else but for those just wishing to relax in a peaceful environment you would be hard put to find a better place to spend a few days.
