You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland was good, but if you want 4* service at 4* prices don't go to The Grand. Only pub food and you make your own bed and carry out own room service. REALLY NOT ON.
Good point, staff lovely and very helpful

Everything the people were generous in there attitude towards visitors there was plenty to do and visit public transport was readily available prices across the board were comparable to normal residential areas unusual for a top tourist attraction
AA Sunderland defrauded me, the hotel doesn't exist, after booking a room with AA Sunderland, a day before my check in the hotel was asking for more additional £50. On the check in day, I called multiple times and no one answered, even when I emailed, I got no reply.
Luckily for me, I used Paypal, after investigating the matter, Paypal refunded me in full.
Please beware, AA Sunderland is fraud.
Location was good. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk to the centre of Sunderland but a drive to the beach area. Depends which one you prefer. The cottage was very nice, clean and comfortable.Very relaxing. meeting up after such a long time it was enjoyable sitting in the comfort of a lounge and catching up rather than in a hotel room or a cafe.
Very quiet at night.
We stayed in room 125 with sea view. It was very spacious room , almost felt like a little flat. It was nice and clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Food (breakfast, dinner) very yummy and high standard. Drinks nice too. It was our second year in Roker Hotel and we loved it both times. It’s also very close to the beach.

The hotel is probably the best placed in Sunderland.
The Inn / pub below is very nice but tees you up for a bit of a let down once you get to the rooms.
Balcony / views are excellent.
5 star host I have never met such a friendly person that would do absolutely anything to make your stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitely rebooked when back in Sunderland.
