Absolutely everything. Charming old features. Beams across the ceiling. The biggest bed ever in the most spacious and comfiest of rooms ever. A lovely bathroom, too - finished to a high spec.
Fantastic location... close enough to the airport but far enough away to feel like you were somewhere in the countryside. Wondeful host, too

The accommodation was very quirky but very nice.
The continental breakfast was very good but not keen on eating it in bed!

We were taking an early morning flight from Stansted so the location was perfect. The room is in the roof area of a very old building so low doors and ceilings. Check in was via a key code which was sent in advance and all went smoothly. Beds were comfy, the room warm and perfect for an overnight stay. I would have preferred a shower but there was only a bath but it wasn't a problem, it was in the description, everything was clean and fresh. We ate downstairs in the bar, the food was great and if anyone deserves a mention is was the lady working the bar, she was a diamond, very pleasant and friendly and made the stay even more enjoyable. Bear in mind the building is 400 years old so it has its own character. 5 stars.

It is not up to the Hilton standard I have experienced in other countries. However the staff were all professional, friendly and responsive.
Just 5 minutes from Stansted Airport, this hotel offers breakfasts and dinner at the hotel restaurant. Central London is only a 45-minute train journey away.

Everything about this property was abysmal, nothing worked, the floors were all broken, very dangerous, the tap in the bathroom was hanging off, no tv and no internet, the plug sockets did not work and the owner was abrupt ant totally unhelpful.

I was DISGUSTED to find out that my cousin, who drove 5 hours to drop us off at Takeley, was fined 100 pounds for "So Called Parking" at the hotel. He stayed long enough to stretch his legs and plan his trip back home. He was there a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes. This IS NOT how you treat guests who are dropped off. What was he supposed to do PARK IN THE STREET!!!! I Apart from things not working In our first room and we had to be changed, then we find out about this BS fine. There was no mention of parking fines on booking.com. I would NOT recommend this hotel and its money making scheme to anyone. You would NEVER be treated like this in Australia. We welcome tourists not fine their drivers. Extremely disappointed !!!! When someone goes out of their way to make sure we arrived safely and then are treated like this it makes me sick.

Very reasonable price for overnight stay and car parking.
Very reasonable price for overnight stay and car parking. Excellent location with a bus stop across the road, for the short trip to the airport. Worth noting if you have a late return flight the last bus is 23.15 so be prepared to get a taxi back. Not our first stay so was aware of the Four Ashes pub across the road that served good food. Unfortunatley we didn't realise they close on Sunday evening so need to arrive before 6 pm if you want food in there. Fortunately there was a list to other food options in the room and a short drive away there is a Tesco Express and an Italian takeaway. Caretaker very pleasant and checked out we had everything we needed for our overnight stay.

Avoid if you value your health and safety.
Avoid if you value your health and safety. This property is being mis sold. It doesn't even have fully functioning electric, no fridge, black mould, disgusting shower heads, filthy. Avoid had no electric to charge phone or for medical equipment. Place is a death trap. They have no idea about disability access, you can't even get in the rooms with a wheelchair never mind get into bed or use the shower and toilet

friendly and informative welcome by the landlady; good beds and perfect breakfast; coffee, thea and chocolate facilities in the room. free parking.
a convenient base for us, from which we could visit our son and grandchildren in Little Canfield.
We chose this Guest House as it was out in the countryside a short taxi journey to the airport with parking available. Julie the landlady and her husband were very welcoming and organised our taxi in advance. Breakfast was good (cold buffet) and the room was comfortable for the night. A really excellent no frills accommodation at a reasonable price. Beats all those faceless airport hotels in my books.
My room was warm and comfortable. It was clean and the facilities were generally good but see below. There is a pub opposite the hotel that is welcoming and served good pizza and decent beer. I was here for an overnight stay and just wanted to get some sleep before and early depart to Stansted airport, but my stay didn't run smoothly.
The room was cold dirty and black mould all around the window the radiator in the bathroom didn’t work and was leaking and the tap constantly leaking to bad to stay in so had to book another hotel and when tried to contact anyone nobody answered the phone or messages or emails avoid at all costs
Nothing was nice, disgusting, hygienic 0, mold everywhere, parasites, wholes, cold, bed clothes dirty, towel dirty.......
And the personal topped it in complementing us out of the hotel as we friendly asked to get a clean warm room. No refunds even with not being able to spend time there.....
The perfect stay before an early trip to the airport. We will always use this annexe over an airport hotel next time we are due to fly. The host is so helpful and accommodating and the little touches were unexpected and very gratefully received!
The quirkiness of this hotel and the trouble and value it put into making this people welcome and at home. I would totally recommend this hotel for people having to stay in Stansted as a stop over for an early morning flight the next day
Landlord is really nice and kind. The property is located in a very lovely countryside place close to Stansted airport. Very beautiful views around the hotel. The fridge in the room is very good and useful for storing food.
Beautiful property, in a lovely countryside area with delicious pub nearby, kindly proprietor, perfect for our first night in England, close to Stansted Airport.
