The Oakland Hotel, hotel in Wickford

The Oakland Hotel is a family-run budget hotel situated in the centre of the riverside town of South Woodham Ferrers, 15 miles from Southend-on-Sea.

Great check in. Friendly staff. We had breakfast, there was plenty of choice. Tge hotel is plased in the centre of town. The bar prices were very reasonable. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and takeaways within a few minutes walk. As well as an Asda. We enjoyed our stay.

Greenwoods Hotel & Spa, hotel in Wickford

This restored 17th-century manor house in large gardens has a bistro restaurant and a spa with 20-metre indoor pool, a gym, steam rooms, saunas and treatments.

Everything was great. We had a fabulous time. The room, the staff, the bar, the location and particularly the Spa. It really was better than we'd hoped. We cannot wait to go again.

The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was ok. The wifi in the room was rubbish. The chair in the room was very uncomfortable so had to sit on bed for the evening. The staff were exceptionally friendly. The bar meal I had was good and the beer garden is lovely.

Booking.com should take it off their list.

Booking.com should take it off their list. I have got bad asthma because the room smelt damp. Blinds wouldn't shut. The bathroom was freezing as windows wouldn't shut. The bathroom radiator didn't work. Thick dust on the bedside table on the bottom shelf. Very dangerous broken glass shades on wsll lights. Tea etc was just thrown on yhe table. No coffee. What would i avoid on my next trip? The hotel itself

Best part was the police presence outside my door - made me feel safe enough to sleep ! Awful place , filthy bathroom clearly not been cleaned , dirty towels from previous people filthy toilet and stank of urine No loung bar as per booking .com No farmland view as per booking .com No wifi No staff just one person on reception Heard from locals that the hotel is being used for other purposes these days and they were all surprised that we were able to book a room there at all

The worst place I've ever stayed in.

The worst place I've ever stayed in. Don't be fooled by the pics, this place is horrendous. I was sandwiched between 2 asylum seekers - why not house them away from the paying guests? No food, no drink and completely out the way. Bloke at reception finished his personal call before he let me check in.

Wickford was a close location to where my final destination was going to be, convenient only mileage wise, but not it's location!! Wickford is a small little town, a few shops, take aways, not a holiday destination, for anyone who is after a holiday feel

Location was great for a wedding in another location. Breakfast was very limited and already set out when we checked in around 6pm with croissants covered over. The hotel wasn’t busy and hence no breakfast was being served.
