Such a beautiful little seaside village that comes to life at night. Could have stayed longer and enjoyed the views, vibes and people. Also we found the pricing cheaper for food and drinks. I must stop

The room was clean and relatively new looking.
The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks had no problem with any other beds.

There is a great vibe at Matala that differs from the rest of Creta. The hippie feel is true. We caught live music the night we were there and it was the best moment.
This along with the red beach - strongly recommend.

Matala is a tourist hot spot.
Matala is a tourist hot spot. So a lot of restaurants there, lot of tourist shops with souvenirs and a lot of people. The beach itself is not that big, but it was nice though. I mean it really depends on what you are looking for. I am more fond of less crowded and less touristy places, so perhaps next time I would look for something more matching my preferences. On the other hand there is nothing wrong about Matala at all. All the people there are very friendly. Really it depends on what you prefer...

Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic, music or noise. You come here to relax. If you like naturist beaching this place is definitely for you (Red beach and Komos beach).
Moreover, Matala can be a good base for visiting the area (you have to rent a car or a bike).

Beautiful little hippie Place with lots of Restaurants, Bars and Cafés.
The beach in matala, the red beach and the caves of matala are a must see. When you are in matala I would recommend the Restaurants Georges Yard, Plaka and Hakuna matata.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this place - it was a last minute choice and I'm glad we chose it. The staff is EXCEPTIONAL, the room was immaculate, the pool is great and the vibe is fun and friendly. We had our own room (not a dorm type) with a private bathroom. Our room also had a large balcony and great A/C which we needed. There was always plenty of hot water which I managed to get everywhere (see below). The hotel is located a bit out of the main area which we liked... about a 15 min walk from "downtown" Matala.
The owner and his wife were really welcoming and hospitable 👏
Also we liked the hotel architecture so much, it's pretty unusual.
But the king of the whole thing is definitely the view from a room balcony — it was gorgeous, especially on sunset.
The Matala Beach is perfect for snorkelling — the underworld is 🤯
Location is excellent, not far from Matala Beach and town centre and also easily accessible to other beaches including red beach and other sites like Kommos. We stayed here for one night as our plans were not firm, but the room suited our needs (interior was modern).
The room and location was great! Walking distance from the beach and village. Matala is small, so everything was close-by. Free parking and large room! Matala in general was a very nice place to stay. It's touristy but it doesn't feel over crowded.
check in didn’t tell me there was breakfast offered. however, the hostel is about a 5-10 min walk from matala beach & so it’s close enough to get there timely but not too close it’s so crowded. great location
A nice family-run hotel with very friendly people. Location absolutely perfect, just a minute walk away from the beach. Free parking a big plus. Rooms big and clean, breakfast very good.
Great location: walking distance to beach and centre. Swimming pool is at the hotel across the street. The room is specious enough for 2 people. Very clean. Bed and shower very good!
The Coral was the best and most atmospheric hotel we stayed in in Greece. It is ideally l;ocated, spotlessly clean, spacious and the owner and staff are very helpful and friendly.
The location is good, it is close to the beach and on the way to the redbeach, close to the market and tavern's area.
The owner is vert helfull & nice.
Parking is close.
The location was great, just a short walk from Matala town and the beach. The breakfast was very good!! Lots of choice eggs, yoghurt, fruit, pancakes etc.
Close to Matala centre, Beach and plenty of parking space. Beds comfortable. The pool area was great with plenty of loungers. Staff pleasant and helpful.
