The offered breakfast for Y1,000 was fantastic. Filling and a range of Japanese breakfast offerings. Location was good, with a bus stop right on the corner of the hotel location. Bus could take us into the city centre or up to the snow lifts but stops at 5pm, keep that in mind. Host was fantastic, always friendly and helpful service.

The proximity to the snow access walkway was fantastic. The local ladies also cook onsen eggs very near to the property. Shannon, the host, was so friendly, and helpful, and made us feel so welcome.

The accommodation is lovely, with spacious rooms, comfy tatami beds, and traditional pyjamas provided. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast is excellent. There's an onsen onsite and other options nearby. An excellent dinner is available at a reasonable price. Also, Tommy's Burger is across the street.
I read that some people commented on the location not being good. I'm not too sure what they were expecting. It's only a 15-10 minute walk from the ski field, and some equipment providers let you store your gear at the base, so it's a pretty easy walk.
I highly recommend this accommodation and would definitely stay there again.
Nakajimaya Ryokan is a 5-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Bus Stop. The bus stop is a 25-minute direct bus ride from JR Iiyama Station.

Modern, newly refurbished (with a lift!) yet still keeping to the traditional Japanese elements of a Ryokan.
We loved that they offered a semi raised bed. Bedding was really comfy and our room was really spacious. Didn't have any issues with the in-room amenities at all!
Amazing variety of local breakfasts every morning and great that you could have your own private breakfast area.
Loved the samue provided and that it was refreshed daily!
Onsen was kept very clean with a lot of amenities (spent a lot of time there!)

Thank you to Yukiko-san and her family for opening their home to us and being so helpful.

Nozawa Onsen was readily accessible by fast train and a bus.
The Village had good amenities including a variety of eating venues.
A free shuttle bus went around the town and to the ski fields every 15 minutes. The ease between getting between the Village, ski fields and accommodation was exceptional. There was even a travellator for going up to the snow and back to the town. The snowfall was excellent particularly as our visit was late in the season in mid March.

Amazing ski resort with great snow and very friendly personnel. Everything worked nicely and the small town center is lovely.
Streets can get narrow so make sure you have parking in advance if going by car. Also check distance from ski lifts.

Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts.
Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts. Great common premises, especially the kitchen, which is great for breakfast (you can buy coffee pods at cost from the host). The futons were very comfortable. We hope to return!
Recommendation for future guests: try to make reservations for restaurants for your entire stay once you arrive (and the inn staff can help) to avoid lining up in cold weather.

Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese.
Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese. Those owned by foreigners are often over-priced with inferior service....sure you might get to speak English, but stay home if that's important...;)

Amazing and cute little village! Ski hill is great too (needs a bit more English signage). Be sure to book any of the nicer/better restaurants way in advance! These book out quickly (Aussies book these places out!)

An amazing and authentic Japanese experience.
An amazing and authentic Japanese experience. The rooms were brilliant and the Onsen was next level luxury. Made the whole ski experience a pleasure being just a short stroll from the Yu road travellator access. Highly recommend it
This is excellent accom for a couple. All you need in the accom plus the added benefit of the hotel and facilities (onsen, breakfast) and assistance across the street. Very helpful in booking lift passes, ski gear hiring suggestions and importantly restaurant/ dinner bookings (essential). Their suggestions were very good and took us to some outstanding venues - and we have been to Nozawa 4 times so always new places to try!!. Gentle 7 mins walk to Hikage slopes/ gondola. Cannot recommend Corner House highly enough.
the location was great. About a 5-minute walk to the Nozawa Onsen Nagasaki gondola. It was also pretty well located in the city and close to several hot springs in the area. I think there are more than 10 you can go to for free. There is also a spring in the bathing room that can be used in the evenings. The area and the hotel are very quiet and quite relaxing. There is also space in the basement for your snowboard or skis, drying racks, and a changing area. All in all quite good with location, services etc.
The breakfast was delicious. Varied, nutritious and traditionally Japanese. Real attention to detail and we looked forward to it each morning. The staff at the hotel could not have been friendlier. They picked us up from the bus stop and helped us get discounts for the ski hire. They also went to buy discounted ski lift passes for us when needed. Little things as well like providing wellington boots for our walks into town (after a deluge of snow) made this visit very special. Thank you so much .
Very cosy little rooms in Nozawa onsen, the guests are incredibly welcoming and
make you feel at home instantly. They were very helpful and gave my plenty of
advises on how to enjoy my stay in the resort.
The room are typical Japanese rooms, clean, with sufficiently thick futons. Even
with back pain, the futons were not problematic.
The breakfast is absolutely amazing and will feed you for the day before putting on the skis.
We stayed at Utopia while going snowboarding. It was the perfect place! Warm and cozy, staff was amazing and super close to the city center. The walk to the mountain was very short. I'd highly recommend this hotel for a fairly budget friendly cozy space to stay. Sadly we didn't get to try the breakfast given our times there but it looked yummy. The front bar was also super cute although we never had a drink there.
I loved everything about my stay here at this cozy dorm . From the private Onsen to the kind hospitality, this place exceeded my expectations. Also, I highly recommended paying the extra fee for the breakfast, it was absolutely delicious. This was the first time my husband and I opted to stay in a dorm type of hotel with shared bathrooms and a common area for everyone to use. I would definitely stay here again .
Nice hotel with bigger rooms than usual in Japan, staff was very helpful. The hotel lives up to its name, you have a great view over Nozawa Onsen from the upper floors. Be aware it’s a bit of a walk to the ski slopes. The breakfast was good, but it’s a Japanese set. Your western options are limited to some cereals, so you better like some fish in the morning. I’d stay again.
It’s really ski-in/ski-out accommodation. I’ll highly recommend for digital nomad or who just wanna go snowboarding every single morning on onzawa Yuzawa snow resort and doing work at night!
The owner is nice, friendly and she can say basic English all you need for just snowboarding and get hot spring over there! I’ll definitely visit her again!
Wonderful family-run property! Traditional Japanese style room with an extremely comfortable futon. Beautiful floor to ceiling windows and balcony. The on-site onsen was the perfect temperature. There’s a storage room for ski equipment that dries your ski wear very quickly. It’s an incredible location in the center of Nozawa Onsen!
Perfectly located with easy acess to both the ski areas and the town. The gondola, ski hire, shops, restaurants, everything is a short, easy walk from the lodge.
Awesome breakfast, wonderful staff. The room, beds and doonas were all incredibity comfortable.
This is the perfect base for a skiing holiday to Nozawa Onsen.
Hotel is close to ski gondola, staffed with locals (Nozawa onsen otherwise feels more like Australia thanks to many season workers). Room feels cozy and bed is very comfortable. Hotel has a vending machine with alcoholic beverages (beer, strong...) which is a feature as restaurants in the village generally close early.
Nice hotel with good services. Room was spacious and shower has a lot of pressure. Breakfast was good with a lot of different options. They have an agreement with one of the ski-rental companies, who bring rented skigear to and from the hotel, which was very convenient.
Keisuke and all of the Yasushi staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. From booking dinners to suggesting drinking spots, they went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic time. The room was also beautifully styled and huge for Japan!
Schneider Hotel was a phenomenal ski in/out mountain lodge! The staff, room, location, atmosphere, and complimentary breakfast were truly outstanding! Didn’t get to use the on-site gender specific onsens, but sure they were great!
The staff service are exceptional. The hotel owner has done above and beyond to make sure you have a good stay at Nozawa Onsen. The traditional rooms are big and clean. Cost of the room is very reasonable for the location.
Great location and short walk to the slopes. Hotel had a delicious tradition Japanese breakfast each morning and the baths were great! The staff were super helpful and booked dinner for us each night.
