Front Count member was very helpful and friendly on arrival, offered to change my room which I was grateful for. I cleaner saw me having difficulty getting into my room and assisted myself which I was thankful for. Room was up to standard and comfortable. Cheap and cheerful, very friendly staff, it’s basic but has all you need. Family of 5 were well contained, it was warm and cosy (electric blankets were a godsend on a cold Wellington weekend) and it’s very conveniently placed. We are repeat customers as you always know what you’re going to get.
Recommended for those wanting a basic but comfortable stay, with excellent staff.

Often noticed the Bucket Tree on train trips into Wellington. As all hotels in Wellington were booked out, we stayed at the Bucket Tree. Very nice clean and comfortable rooms. Extremely helpful hosts. Just one stop on the train to Wellington and Bucket Tree is right by the track. Tawa has a bit of a village feel to it in contrast to the City.
