Room was spacious and clean. Loved the wooden floors and villa architecture. Open concept bathroom / onsen was unexpected but made it roomy. Was nice to open the windows for natural ventilation at night.

We really only walked to old town one day as we spent a lot of time in the hotel and in the hotel spa. However, in one day we in the village we had great street food, took a tram up the mountain, took a vintage train ride, went for a long walk, and we loved our hotel Volando Urai.
We didn't get a chance to go to the indigenous museum which looked great. We will visit Wulai again!

Wulai is such a fun, quaint town.
Wulai is such a fun, quaint town. It was a peaceful get-away for our family, but also had activities nearby that our kids could enjoy as a family. The Yun-hsien was one of our kids favorite areas to visit. We took the small trains up to the gondola, and took the gondola the rest of the way. It is not handicap accessible, and there are many stairs to climb at the end, if you have troubles with climbing. YuN-hsien itself had quite a few attractions that were closed, but I think there was enough for it to still be an enjoyable time. We enjoyed the scenery of Wulai, the laid back feel and trying the local food. If you are looking for a relaxing spot to get away to enjoy nature and rest, I would highly recommend Wulai.

Wulai is a fantastic break from Taipei.
Wulai is a fantastic break from Taipei. There are a lot of places to eat andI mostly just sampled street food. The hot springs are the main draw so go for the views and stay in one of the resorts. Please note that many resorts are up a winding hill. Walk through Wulai Old Street until you find concrete stairs then follow those up. It’s either the stairs or a long, steep walk following the road. Take some time to check out the Atayal museum as it is very interesting (and free). I hope to go again next time I’m in Taiwan.

Loved the fresh mountain vegetable stir fry!
Loved the fresh mountain vegetable stir fry! I came primarily to bird and enjoyed seeing quite a few bird species (and two species of monkey) but also enjoyed the scenery and would have loved to have had more time to explore different trails. and swim. Most people were friendly and I was fortunate to come on a day that was not a holiday or weekend-- it would have been crowded! The town is very charming and for those who love nature, there is much to explore.
Our stay was wonderful! We had a large room that very much reminded us of a Thai villa. The room had a huge double hot spring bath with an additional shower area - all of which had a beautiful view of the river and treeline.
We were welcomed by very friendly staff who also served us a large breakfast the next morning. Breakfast is a mix of Taiwanese and western styles and was very good. Particularly impressed with free-flow coffee!
The breakfast area we choose was outside by the river and that made it quite special.
Ms. Lan and the female employee who checked us in are excellent, and the room was clean and tidy.
The location of the hotel is also very convenient as it is easily accessible by bus and there is a bus stop nearby. Additionally, for those who drive, there is ample parking space in front of the hotel.
During our stay, we enjoyed a relaxing evening in the hotel room, and Ms. Lan kindly offered us some delicious fruit. We appreciated her thoughtfulness and hospitality.
The room was huge and very clean, and the included breakfast was delicious - the delivery to the room was also a huge plus. Even though my room faced the street, it was still quiet, and it was easy to walk to all the major attractions and bus station in Wulai from the hotel. Plus, having the large, private onsen bath in my room was perfect, I really couldn't have asked for better.
The hot spring in the room is nice. Also, it is nice if you book the room where you can see outsde the window from the bathroom. The bad was very comfortable. They also provide a shuttle bus to go to the old street, which is very convenient. We were able to check-in before the original check-in time. Staff did their best, but is not as trained as they probably should be.
The location was up the mountain and from our room we had a wonderful view of Wulai and the surrounding area. There was a nice veranda with table and chairs that was wide enough not to have to put our knees under our chins. The room was clean and all amenities worked. The hot spring tub was plenty wide enough for two people.
Great hotel in a lively position, the river passing just by the side, the main road with restaurants and shops on the corner. Nice view from the rooftop restaurant and amazing hot springs spa.
I would definitely stay there again if I go to Taiwan in the future.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy and the hot spring baths in the rooms were great. Some of the staff also spoke English, though it will be a smoother experience if you have a Mandarin-speaker in your group.
- Good location
- Nice staffs
- I like the room a lot. It has good ventilation, and natural light permitting.
- Hot spring both public and private
- Good breakfast and dinner. Plenty of vegetables and we enjoyed so much
We have the room on the corner, and the view is just spectacular with the big windows facing the mountain. Restroom and the bathtub (with hot spring water) are spacious.
Love the public hot spring ..!and the hot pot dinner and breakfast as well which’s all included in the room charge .
Walking distance to Wulai old street .
Very nice place to stay for family bvacation.
