تقع مونتيري في شبه جزيرة صغيرة وتمتاز بهدوئها وبأنها تشمل على ساحل ذو طبيعة مموجة تجعل منه مكان جذب لحياة برية زاخرة. وأكثر ما تشتهر فيه مونتيري هو جبنة جاك مونتيري وقد كانت في الماضي مكان لصيد سمك الساردين في البلدة. تحولت بعض مصانع التعليب السابقة في شارع كانيري صالات عرض ومحلات تجارية بعد رواية حون شتاينبك. يمكن زيارة المتحف والبيت السابق التابع له بالقرب من ساليناس.
يضم أكواريوم خليج مونتيري الرائع مجموعة رائعة من الحياة البحرية المحلية والتي تنتشر بشكل كبير في هذه المنطقة بحيث أنه يمكنك مشاهدة الفقمات مستلقية على صخور الشواطئ أو مشاهدة أسود البحر تزأر تحت أرصفة فيشرمان وارف. فيما تنطلق رحلات مشاهدة الحيتان من هذه المنطقة.
يقع للجنوب منتزه مونتيري التاريخي ويضم المباني التاريخية ومن ضمنها البيت المخصص ومحطة الحيتان القديمة ومسار مصنوع من عظم الحيتان. يقع للشرق بعض فنادق شاطئ مونتيري والموجودة على Booking.com كما يوجد العديد من فنادق مونتيري التي تحوي مسابح داخلية.
