And the scenery is matched by the warmth of the owner-hostess, Fernanda: she made us feel so welcome and looked after, insisting we take sandwiches on the super hike she suggested we take to the next door village, Pitoes de Junias. Dinner was also delicious (especially the homemade cured sausage) and we loved feeling so close to the village, which still seems home to many local people who farm the land.

Breakfast and coffee pods arriving on our doorstep in the morning was an extra surprise. The bungalows are clean and the beds very comfortable. We travelled in winter (frosty mornings) and the bungalows are well heated. The HUGE plus is dogs are welcome here. Great location for exploring Montealegre and Gerês.rhianGroup
