Maria and Manuel were incredibly good hosts. They both speak excellent English, Maria especially so. The property is a working vineyard with wine produced on site and Manuel took the trouble to show us around the set-up and explain the processes. Both are very much into environmental protection and the vineyard is managed with this in mind and a duty of care to soil health and wildlife. You can book an evening meal on the premises that Maria cooks. We had this one evening and it was a delightful experience. Local foods to taste and the price was better than very reasonable. The house wine is also lovely and very affordable and I recommend you buy as much as possible if you have your own transport. Casa Grande do Seixo is situated in a beautiful and very quiet valley in easy reach of the lovely towns of Chaves and Vidago, both only about 5 miles away. Breakfast was brilliant with as much as one would want with plenty of choice. No problem with topping up popular items and always a cheerful morning greeting from Maria.

Both houses include fully equipped kitchens where guests can prepare their own meals. The kitchen in the 5-bedroom house kept its traditional features but it is adapted to the modern times. In addition there is a breakfast room with a fireplace where guests can taste some regional delicacies.

they really went out of their way to make me welcome. They even made me a soup with bread and fruit for only 10 euro so that instead of driving back into the main town I could rather enjoy a walk in the mountain. it is beautiful and DEFINATELY worth a visit for any traveller along that route.
