We loved everything. The facilities were beyond our expectations and it was perfect in every way. The hot baked scones with coffee on arrival and the glass of port at night were pleasant treats. The rooms were very comfortable and we enjoyed the ambience. It was such a pleasure to look out over the rural area as the fog lifted in the morning while eating our made to order breakfast.

What's not to love about Tenterfield, especially when the Autumn colour puts on a show! There's plenty to do for lovers of history, also several national parks a short distance from town, other scenic drives (Tourist Drives 7 and 9 are highlights), and short road trips to nearby towns that have different character to investigate.
Sadly the Visitor Information Centre is permanently closed so it's best to do your research online or before you get to Tenterfield. Also there are not many places to eat open on certain days of the week (we found Sunday particularly difficult) and several museums and places of interest have reduced their days of opening. Probably Thursday to Sunday provides more options than Sunday to Wednesday.

Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people.
Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people. We had a very negative experience with one boutique shopkeepers' quarters accommodation. which had such potential but didn't see through and especially for the price however the town was gorgeous and everyone else was so friendly and accommodating. We have family living nearby and will come back to this gorgeous little town.
The "Stone Fruit" bar has exceptional coffee, the florist was lovely and arty, and the clothes choices were fantastic! Lots of little quaint coffee places dotted up the street. The Peter Allen motel was old (loved the kitsch orange floor tiles in the bathroom) very clean, central, friendly and just all-round welcoming.

I grew up just down the highway from Tenterfield and was very pleasantly surprised when I visited it again for the first time in 40 years, for a wedding.
The Northern Tablelands of NSW is a beautiful area and Tenterfield now has a great place to stay in the Commercial Boutique Hotel; really good cafes for breakfast or lunch (Badmanners Cafe, Courtyard Cafe); and several restaurants and pubs (Colonial Hotel) for an enjoyable evening meal.
Lots to see in the area or further up or down the New England Highway.

We did not get to the accommodation because of the fires at Tenterfield but that was no fault of the owner who was very helpful to me when I explained our situation. I hope to stay there at a later date when the bush fires settle down and would like to have the money I have paid in abeyance until we can arrange another day to attend

The Town is as dead as a Dodo, but when I was last here 30 years ago, it was then too. One can safely fire a cannon down the road at 7 p.m. and as for finding a meal, there were very limited choices. The next town up the road in Qld, Stanthorpe, is humming!

We only had one day so drove the Mackenzie Mountain tourist route#9 to see the granite rocks and they were amazing. Then drove to Boonoo Boonoo National Park where the walks are quite short to the falls (sadly very little water due to drought conditions but still worth going) The rock pools were beautiful despite low water.
We enjoyed our walk along the main street and visited the Tenterfield Traveller shop.
Lots of great dining options.
There's a skate park which looks brand new and lovely walks through the parklands along Tenterfield Creek
What a great historic home, so much history and the hosts were fantastic and even took us on a grand tour of the house along with loads of fun facts. We would highly recommend a stay, and don't forget to pop up to the viewing deck. Stannum house is in a handy location on the main road through Tenterfield yet was very quiet in our room. The local shops are quirky and a pubs for all budgets, check out the Telegraph hotel for diner, go the bangers and mash, delicious. There is a Coles supermarket handy to Stannum house.
The property is advertised on booking.com site as having cable TV. It does not. Even the in room book has instructions for use of cable TV. Manager said he is new but has not had it as far as he knows. False advertising on the booking site and hotel. I was promised my money back and have not seen it. Did not stay - but the rooms are old, outdated and poor.
Many such parks are next to main roads with overnight traffic. Tenterfield Lodge Caravan Park was not so - it is in a very quiet part of town, but close to amenities such as restaurants and fuel. If you want a quiet, peaceful night, it’s the place to stay.
The room was a very good motel room. In particular it was great to have a comfortable two seat sofa in the room. The small kitchenette was satisfactory for a one night stay. Parking outside the room and hotel bistro on site made it a convenient stay.
Very well organized motel unit with all conveniences of an excellent standard.
Large spacious unit, lounge an very comfy bed.
Continental Breakfast a real bonus.
Short walk to town.
I considered this unit outstanding.😃
The accomodation was very quaint and just what we wanted for a getaway. It was private and quiet, yet super close (short walk) to everything you would need. Great restaurants and cafes nearby. Lovely authentic bathtub!
Excellent location, walking distance to many of Tenterfield's historical buildings and eating venues. Really interesting old house with pot belly fireplace and outdoors fire pit. Nice garden. Very functional kitchen.
A great little budget motel. Rooms are smallish but not cramped.. Very comfortable bed. Good water pressure and hot. Noticed rooms as they filled were allocated furthest from the road for a quiet night's rest.
We have stayed here three times now travelling up to QLD... It is one of our favourite places to stay... Love everything about this motel...only wish we got to stay in the new rooms in the old Hotel...
The location was really good, you could walk to all the cafes and hotels. The cottage had everything you need for a stay. It was easy to access. Had off street parking and a lovely backyard.
Great central location, quiet, and a good price. Microwave is good to see and the room was fine for an overnight stay. As a bonus, the pub just outside the back door had good meals.
The hotel was beautifully designed and decorated.
The room was very clean and the bathroom accessories were amazing.
We ate at the restaurant and the food was 10/10.
