Even before arriving to the hostel I was informed I could be collected from the bus station via their transport which was amazing. Start to finish I was looked after with everything provided. The host provided me with knowledge of the town I was staying in and history. I was driven around to different parts of the town to take in the amazing views. The community were welcoming and very nice. I was overwhelmed with happiness from the time I checked in to checking out. Thank you open mind hostel for making my trip 🙌 I look forward to returning and encourage people to visit and stay with open mind hostel!

The hosts Bev & John were wonderful. Their house is attached to the holiday accommodation but they never invade your privacy. If you do need them they are always available. Perfect. The accommodation is furnished well with all the equipment you will need. We were provided with a well stocked arrival pack. The terrace, gardens and pool are perfectly kept. The views are wonderful and as there is very little light pollution the night sky is outstanding. We loved it so much we’ve booked to go back next year. Thank you Bev and John for a great time.

Alcala is a working town and busy during the day.
Alcala is a working town and busy during the day. Our stay was Mon/Tues where we found many bars and restaurants closed.
The main reason to visit for a tourist is the spectacular La Mota fortress dominating the town. This is special.
The "Old Town" in Alcala has some lovely architecture and is low rise so presents a nice vista from higher up and at nightime. However, many shops in this area had closed down or were banks which left it soul less. The newer town was more lively during the daytime but is indistinguishable from many other Spanish towns.
For me a 2 night stay was too long. A day trip would satisfy my touristy needs.
Our favourite place to have a drink and eat was Cafe Bar Europa in the new town, although this is a bit biased as other places were closed. The food was very good though and the wine cheap

A 3 night stay.
A 3 night stay. Mix of old & modern but a real Spanish feel. 3 days was just about right. Lots of history locally but hard work in the heat. Enough bars & restaurants & way cheaper than the Costas. V friendly locals & although alone I felt very safe throughout.

Alcalá la Real is a forgettable place especially when the weather is awful! Not recommended at all as restaurants and bars basic, bland and loud. Ok for locals but no lacks sophistication and not good value for money!
The hotel has been beautifully renovated, our room was stunning and extremely comfortable, with excellent quality bedding. Far better than many 4 star hotels.
There is a central breakfast area where coffee and breakfast snacks are available.
We pre-booked parking in the nearby underground carpark, just 2 minutes walk away.
Wonderful friendly greeting on arrival.
Walking distance (uphill) to Fortaleza de la Mota, which is amazing.
We stayed over Easter and were able to watch the procession from the balcony in our room.
The hotel is centrally located and the rooms are so clean and beautiful. The bed was super comfortable. They offer coffee, tea and some pastries in the morning. The hotel kindly stored our bikes in a locked room for the night. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Located in a quiet safe location. Easy street parking just outside of the apartment. Very convenient location for visiting surrounding towns i.e. Priego de Cordoba, Zuheros and of course Alcala la Real. Apartment has very nice communal roof terrace.
I fully understand their situation and there were plenty of other places to eat and drink with a very short walking distance. It is a beautiful town with lots to do. I will go to the same hotel again when all this has blown over.
After being on the road for six weeks, this is clearly the best hotel we’ve encountered. Everything is nice, beautiful, functional, just perfect - this hotel easily beats many four star places in quality.
Hosts were excellent. Drinks from the on site micro brewery were superb. Food served at weekend was delicious. Views from the hotel are stunning. Made to feel really welcome and we will be back.
I really appreciated the hotel staff; they went to great lengths to accommodate me and make my stay as easy and well ordered as possible. Thank you, Llave de Granada!
The hotel is in a great location, the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff sent me details on how to access the hotel and it all went very smoothly.
