We had a perfect stay here - the location is great on the sunset side of the island and Darren is always on hand for help and great chats. He couldn’t have done more for us and even took our bags to the boat for our onward travel. He has great restaurant recommendations and clearly puts a lot of effort into making his guests feel at home. The rooms are very clean, great a/c and a stocked mini bar that you pay for at the end! The area is great for chilling out and you can hire bikes next door.

Very good stay in Don Det very calm, plus the sunset coast is way less hot than the sunrise one and has a little wind very enjoyable. The sunset is something not to miss enjoying the cocktails and other delicacies made by the hotel for a very affordable price.

A great 3 night stay! Very good location, really helpful staff too (we rented bikes and paid by card for the accommodation too). Would stay again and would recommend! Good aircon, close by restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinner! 5 minute walk from where the boat drops you off.

When we arrived at the boathouse, we where welcomed with a big smile. This already felt so good!
The bungalow (one of the only two bungalows) is located at the river, so you can lay in your hammock and watch the Mekong.
The bungalow is simply furnished but the beds where good and they had a fan. Don’t expect the Hilton when you pay only 10 dollar. ;)
Mike and Tip are incredible nice and warm people and we wished we could stay longer. I also would recommend the massage you can get there. The girl who does that is amazing!
We really enjoyed our stay and where sad we had to leave!

You get what you pay for. It’s cheap so you can’t expect a lot. The rooms were relatively ok for the price but a fan room was just too hot for us. It’s also quite far from the pier .. at least a 45 minute walk however the positive side to that is you’re right next to the opposite island.

It was a big hassle coming to the island, but the kayaking activity that I did was worth all the sufferings.
Would recommend this place if there's more options for transportation and if the government install lights on the roads.

The island has fantastic views of the Mekong river with many small islands all around Don Det. The coast of the island is full of hotels, guest houses and restaurants, while the interior has lots of rice fields. It was very nice to walk around the island, total distance about 6 km, in the early morning. The island is lively with a large number of restaurants to chose from. The old French concrete gantry and historic bridge as well as an out of place steam engine give a feel of the French colonial past. The ferry ride from Nakasong on the mainland to Don Det is very interesting.
