There is so much to see in Valletta, everywhere you walk...
There is so much to see in Valletta, everywhere you walk there are amazing buildings and so much history. We had a car and travelled outside the City and again there was so much architecture to admire. There is good public transport in Malta so a car isn't really necessary and the main part of Valletta is pedestrianised.
Lots of restaurants to choose from, but be aware that even if they are showing open on the internet they may have closed down.
Good range of food and drink at a wide range of prices. Mainly Italian inspired food with some local dishes, rabbit stew is a popular local dish.
Vegetarian options on most menu's and a few vegan but allergens often not shown on menu's.
It felt safe walking around at night and had a good atmosphere.
Check days places of interest are open, if you are particulalry keen to see somehing.

Fascinating city - catacombs, cathedrals & Caravaggio.
Fascinating city - catacombs, cathedrals & Caravaggio. We thought the food was great - try and get to Da Pippo for lunch and try the cocktails at Kamy- literally a work of art!
Plenty of gardens or piazzas to rest, soak in the atmosphere and take in the stunning views, easy boat trips across the harbour or to Gozo, Valletta offered so much more than we had expected.
I’d say “go now”. A lot of the old (17th century) houses are being renovated… one day it may become gentrified and a city simply for visitors…

Valletta is a big city... 2 days to explore at least.
Valletta is a big city... 2 days to explore at least.
Forget Gozo... It's over rated... Busy... And not what u think it's going to be (unless u like diving and swimming in sea etc)
3 cities (which is actually just one stop) over the bay by boat is worth doing... The city of senglea is stunning.. Back streets and cafes.
Dingli Cliffs... Take a cab 30 mins before sunset (on a nice clear day) take a bottle of prosecco and some snacks and just watch the sun go down...it's soo serene and calming...
Cabs and uber service excellent all over the country..
Altogether a good 4 or 5 day break...
Enjoy...

Tons to do and we probably only scratched the surface.
Tons to do and we probably only scratched the surface. Food is excellent and pretty reasonable compared to the UK. It feels a very safe place and extremely relaxed. I would certainly do a return trip. It's still quite British in many ways with old style telephone boxes, letter boxes and they drive on the same (correct!) side of the road as us. We didn't hire a car as you can walk to most places in the city or get ferries, Uber, Bolt etc. I think you can't hire a car over the age of 70 so best to check if that's important. Everyone speaks English.

Valletta one of the most improved cities in Europe.
Valletta one of the most improved cities in Europe. When I first visited many years ago it was dead and run down,. Now vibrant, well maintained and restored, it is a gem. Much of this related to EU membership as many restoration and infrastructure projects funded by EU. So much to see and do. For bars, craft beer buffs should visit Dom at 67 Kapitani, Old Bakery Street - see St Johns Cathedral, stroll in Upper Barrakka Gardens, Eat at the Kings own Band Club in Republic St for authentic delicious local food - or push the boat out a bit at Giannini overlooking Sliema - catch the ferry or local boat to the nearby three cities

Best part of the island, loved our time there so much to see and do. Bus station was organised and efficient you can get to everywhere on the and there is also a ferry service between Valletta and Sliema.
Excellent location in the main residential walking area within Valletta. Plenty of restaurants, stores and things to do around the hotel. The room was large, spacious and comfortable. Appreciated getting 2 bottles of water each day. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and offered good variety. I liked that I could change my choice each day as I was there for 4 nights. Really helpful with keeping my luggage for me after checkout as I had an evening flight. Would recommend!
Sally Port Suites is the perfect choice for accommodation in Valletta. It's in an excellent location, in the city centre and close to everything you need. Alfredo, the hostess, is very polite and friendly. We had a free early check in and he gave us a better and bigger room with the great view of the port. We were very happy and pleased about our staying in Sally port suites and we hope we come back again in Valletta and of course we will select Sally port again and again for our vacation.
Thank you!
The apartment is at the heart of the city centre. It's really spacious, with a kitchen (where you can make some coffee/meals). The balcony we thought it had is a "closed balcony" typical of the maltese architecture, so no smoking on the balcony, but there is a terrace on the top floor with a couple of tables and a great view. We were able to store our luggage until our flight in the afternoon, the host was very polite and helpful, the communication with the host was really good as well.
The facilities were not exactly the same as they were described in the Booking reservation. Unexpected surprises were added after I paid. However the hotel administration did all their best to provide me with the comfort level I expected. Thus I am very much satisfied with my stay at Casa Domenico 8 - a perfect location for sightseeing, a beautiful sea view from the balcony, and quiet time at night. I express my gratitude for a nice week vacation in Malta!
I had a beautiful room (#16) which was large and tastefully decorated. The rooftop pool/bar area was excellent - intimate and extremely well staffed. The umbrellas provided excellent shade. The hotel is in an excellent part of Valletta - away from the partying noise from late night bars and clubs but still only 5 minutes walk from them should one wish to reveal in the atmosphere at ground level. Cleanliness of the hotel generally was outstanding.
The location of the hotel is very good, inside the Valletta, near the Government of Malta and the Upper Brakka Gardens, from where you can see the Saluting Battery. Also is 2 minutes walk from the main street ( Republic Street) and the main atractions of the city. The main bus station of the city is just 4 minutes walk and also the Fast Ferry Gozo is 5-7 minutes walk. Near by there are many streets with restaurants.
A very stylish apartment in a brilliant location for exploring Valletta and beyond. Just moments away from the water and only a five to ten minute walk from the city centre along the fascinating streets and passageways. The hosts were very quick to respond to any questions we had. Having the balcony as your own little piece of outside space was a real bonus.
The Coleridge Boutique Botel is a piece of heaven in central Valletta. The room was magically beautiful, tasteful with a mesmerizing light. The hotels staff (Snežana, Maja and Lidija) are fantastic: friendly, eager to help and assist in making the most of our stay. They are full of information, quick to laugh, amazingly professional.
The apartment and location were beautiful. Clean, organised and right in the centre of Valletta. The host met us shortly after our arrival to advise us and make sure we were happy with everything which was a nice touch. Malta was going through a heatwave whilst we were there (July) and the AC was a godsend!
The hotel was in the middle of the heart of Valletta. The staff was very helpful and never denied anything we asked. The room was very spacious with nice furniture..It was so clean that you could smell it everywhere in the hotel premises. The breakfast was of excellent quality. 👌 bravo...👏👏👏
- Very clean and comfortable.
- Great location, easy walk from cafes, bars, bus station and the walled city centre
- Great communication from owner (ask them to send you a pic of the small alleyway leading to the front door as it's a little tricky to find otherwise.)
- Quiet.
We travelled with our baby to Malta and stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The hotel is huge and offers plenty of space.
Wifi connection was great and accessible everywhere.
A self contained room in the heart of Valletta. The staff worked out of a different hotel, and were friendly and knowledgable. I was very grateful that I could leave my bike with them while I visited the city centre.
Lovely old Palazzo in the city centre of Valletta close to all the restaurants and attractions, Staff are very friends and their restaurant Risette is amazing. Our room was very comfortabe and clean.
The Hotel is exactly in the city centre but still quiet enough to get good quality sleep! The people were extremely friendly and sweet and we didn‘t have anything to complain about. Would recommend!
Really good location in Valetta. 5 minute walk to city centre, buses, shops, restaurants etc. 10 minute walk to boats. Apartment had everything we needed and a really nice welcome hamper.
Delicious breakfast with a lot of various choices. Spacious room with a beautiful sea view. Great location, just a few minutes of walk from the city centre and all the activities.
