Featuring an outdoor swimming pool and views of mountain, Blue Garden Yogyakarta is a recently renovated guest house located in Yogyakarta, 11 km from Museum Sonobudoyo. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. It is out in a rural area well outside the city. Very peaceful and relaxing. Room was super clean and air conditioned with a large bathroom ( no a/c) and mini bar. ( Beer and cokes only) It has a small but good restaurant ( reserve meals in advance) and a lovely garden and pool. Looks out on rice fields with birds and nature all around. It is close.to a mosque and you can definitely hear the call to prayer. It added to the atmosphere for us and they turn down the loudspeaker for the 4am call to prayer!. You can borrow the bikes and ride through the working rice fields leased from the sultan. You certainly get to see authentic rural Javanese life but its not for those who want any kind of nightlife! Beer available but no wine, so bring your own if you want to relax over a glass while getting your authenticity!

Ndalem Suryo Saptono Guest House is situated in Yogyakarta, 2.7 km from Yogyakarta Tugu Train Station, 3.1 km from Tugu Monument, as well as 3.1 km from Malioboro Mall. Very impressed with the architectural style of the room, the carved wooden door ( a masterpiece). Good attention to details, although a 2 star accomodation, we had better facilities than a 3 star hotel. The owner values his guests, a lot of resting areas in the courtyard, a fridge with juice and beers to cool down were expecting us upon our arrival. Good breakfast ( we were asked what we prefere to eat). The singing birds were the main attraction for the kids. After some bad nights spent in horrible guesthouses, this one came like a very nice surprise.

The guest house is a 15-minute drive from Royal Ambarrukmo, a 30-minute drive from Malioboro area as well as Yogyakarta town square and a 70-minute drive from Borobudur Temple. Adisucipto Airport is a 10-minute drive away. A real homestay experience where we felt welcomed and well looked after. Wibowo and Heni are great hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the area. Catering our daily experiences around the children’s needs was just next level service.

Guesthouse Viavia is a 45-minute drive from Adisucipto Airport and a 1-hour drive from Prambanan Temple. Hot and clean showers, incredibly friendly staff who were always happy to help, clean and comfortable beds in the dorms with a good air conditioner, lovely pool, lovely outdoor space for hanging out in. Overall a really really lovely chilled atmosphere, I wish I could have stayed longer! I’m an early riser and didn’t opt for the included breaky but staff still supplied me with free tea and coffee at any time in the mornings and allowed me to store my fruit in their fridge. I appreciated the water refill station and the knowledge and friendliness of the staff.
