When I visited Myvatn, Sel Hotel is always my first choice of accommodation. Its home stay like for me and it never fails me in anyway. All staffs are friendly and its food was always at high standard. Bonus is its location! Apart from staying here during summer, each time I managed to see the aurora! This trip I literally saw it in bed through the window. If you are staying in a room facing front, sunrise or sunset, Lake Myvatn even aurora are all just outside your window.

An excellent place to stay next to Lake Myvatn. Located close to Hverir geothermal area and Myvatn Nature Baths (well worth a visit). The restaurant here is superb and the buffet breakfast the best we had in Iceland with meats and cheeses etc. from the farm (there is a very strong farm to plate ethic going on here). The room itself was well sized but cozy and warm (it was minus 13 in the morning so this was important!). Plus you can go and pet the cows and calves!

The room was comfortable and really clean. There were shared showers/toilets but the room had a sink inside which was a plus. The breakfast was delicious, with a very nice view of the fields. 20min by car from Lake Myvatn. One can also buy pretty Icelandic sweaters there in a decent price compared to shops in Reykjavik or Akureyri.

Nice location very close to lake Myvatn. Very friendly receptionist, who took her time to explain everything we needed to know. We booked a suite, which was nice and spacious with a bedroom and a sitting room. We had dinner in the garden of Gamli Baerinn, the tavern next door that belongs to the hotel. Nice food and friendly waiters.

Central location at lake Myvatn. Proper rooms with bath and comfortable bed. We were here in August, so there were thousands of flies and mosquitos which dont bite, so its just a little bit stressful when they invade your head. :) Nothing to do with the guesthouse, just consider this at that time of the year.

Comfortable but small room, large en suite bathroom with heated floor. Excellent location for Lake Myvatn - short drive to all key sites including Myvatn baths, Hverir etc. Close to supermarket, petrol station, pizza and more formal restaurants. Easy check-in and check-out with self use codes.

The hotel has a interesting architecture and is still very new. The view from the hotel restaurant is just great. You see lake Myvatn and the mountains. There were very comfortable beds. The dinner was good, but also very expensive.

Location is great - convenient for visiting scenic spots around Lake Myvatn. Food is good (both breakfast and dinner). Service is consistently professional and warm. Hotel is modern and clean.

The town is beautiful. The rooms are old fashioned, but stylish.

Check in/out was very quick and easy, with codes, no personnel. Washbasin within the room is so comfortable. The common kitchen area is really huge and equipped.

Very clean location, family run farm with accommodation for tourists. Amazing breakfast. Very friendly people, could arrange a late checkout for us. First time we have seen a dog playing football - we won that game 3-2, but the dog probably let us win… And don’t miss the homemade ice-creams !!

Great breakfast. Lava bread was different. The host was really accommodating and so kind. They made me an early breakfast package due to my early departure. There's a grocery store, gas station, and fish n chips place nearby.
