Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFelt a little messy sometimes. Lots of random people's stuff all over the room (especially long term residents) and common areas. My bed didn't have access to a plug and the large window behind it was often fully open which made me worry about stuff falling off my bed and out the window. There was also a smell of gas that wafted in through the window constantly. The communal area often had music playing especially on weekends and nights which made it hard to find anywhere to have a quiet phone call in the evening. Didn't realise that the hostel is on the 1st floor so had to drag my suitcase up a big flight of stairs.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was in a girls dorm and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I ended up speaking to a few of the girls and most people said hi when passing. They had a free rooftop barbecue when I was there and it was very good. The food was good and it was free which was very nice of the staff to do for us. Communal area had lots of power sockets available. It was in a good location just a short walk to the beach, Luna park and acland street. Lots of places close by for food and things to do.

ChileI didn't have a good time in Room 7 because of some people that were disrespectful. I don't know how good or bad the other rooms are.
I liked the people there. I really felt like I was part of a family. I met a lot of nice people.

United StatesThe long term stays in the room took up all the space, so newcomers don't have anywhere to plug things in, put luggage or walk through the room sometimes. The housekeeping was the worst. Every morning coming in at 11am, opening the curtains and the windows and blasting thier own music, without any care for who was sleeping. I even witnessed a guy WAKE UP a girl to say he could change her sheets right then or not until next week since she was a long term guest. She said she needed to sleep and rolled back over. It is absolutely disrespectful and rude. I was sick so I said something on the third day and the guy just shrugged, said sorry, and opened the curtains and windows again anyway. Seems like they are trained to do this since it was the same every day. The sheets and pillowcases are stained too.
The kitchen was large, lounge was very comfortable and had good music going. The room itself was huge.

ColombiaThere are no outlets or extensions for each bed so it's hard to recharge your electrical devices. The extensions are very far from the cabins.

PeruIt's a small hostel (small common areas) and it feels even smaller because it was full of people. Small kitchen, so it can get tricky to cook sometimes, but still doable.
Management is really helpful and always tried to help me book a bed even though the hostel was quite packed.

AustraliaI got home late from a competition I was participating in. Got to the room, where there were two new people. We chatted for a while, then I fell asleep. I was woken up by the others saying they couldn't sleep with me there. I was told by the others to leave the room, which I did, with all my gear. I lay on the couch near Reception till one of the staff helped me with my stuff to go to a different room. He went out of his way for me. I really appreciated it. Thank you.
The staff went out of their way to help me when I needed it.

United StatesNot enough outlets in the room.
The common areas aren't huge, but they are very cozy. They felt very much like a real home. There is, however, a huge rooftop area with plenty of seating. I stayed in the all girls dorm. Plenty of lockers and space for everyone, and the bed was comfortable. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The hostel was pretty clean. No grime on the shower floors. Free parking nearby after 5 pm (2P 9 to 5). The Care Park is about a 10-minute walk and is only $8 all day if you park before 10 am.
