Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This hotel was excellent. It’s in a fabulous location, right beside the Port. The staff are all very friendly and speak good English. The breakfast was plentiful and good value at 10€ per person. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to others.

FranceThe rooms were pretty tight and narrow. We were a couple and while we were ultimately fine it would have been really nice to have just a little bit more space. This hotel room would be great for a solo person, or a couple that doesn't mind having little space.
Bed was comfortable, everything was clean and in good condition. Location was fantastic, and you can't beat the value for the location. It's not a luxury hotel, but it completely suits needs if on a budget, and the breakfast was good with options including homemade yogurt, granola, juices, cereals, coffee, and breads/pastries. I would stay here again.

United KingdomFacilities pretty basic (one plug point, one complimentary bottle of water - nothing for making own hot drink) but I think it was value for money. Walls a bit thin: could hear other guests. Ensuite had obviously been cleaned well but you can see the older ingrained dirt.
Excellent location: view of le vieux port, immediately adjacent to le panier area. Staff very friendly and helpful. They kept guests’ baggage after checkout so that we didn’t need to lug it with us before getting the ferry. Comfortable bed.

United KingdomIt's getting a little bit tired but still good value for money, especially considering the location. Unfortunately the lift was out of order during our stay which meant a very tiring walk up to our 4th floor room. Soundproofing wasn't great so you're unlucky if you have noisy neighbours!
Brilliant location next to Old Port Lovely staff Tidy rooms (many with side view of the port) and comfortable beds Lovely roof terrace (but so windy when we were there we couldn't use it) We'd stay again!

TurkeySome permanent small stains on sheets and look worn a bit, but they were properly cleaned. Noisy, loud housekeeping. Not possible to sleep after 10.00 am. They don't care if there is a guy behind the door with DND card hangs. In general, perfect value for money, but remember that this is a 2-star boutique hotel on an old building, so you should set your expectations clearly.
Although room size was small, the plan was useful. Nice terrace open at any time. Bed was okay. Awesome location, impossible to beat.

AustraliaVery small room. One reason I chose Hermes was the rooftop but I didn’t know it was open to the general public so it can be full of non guests and guests miss out.

New ZealandAlthough parking is made available it did add to the cost of staying in the Hermes Hotel. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room so it was necessary to take a paid breakfast in the restaurant that also added to the cost of the stay.

RomaniaDidn’t like key system. You receive your key only after check in hour, although I arrived a half hour earlier. It’s an old fashioned key to close and open the door. The doors are loud, hearing other neighbors all the time. The hotel asks you to always leave the key at the reception when you leave, and the main entrance door will be closed after 20:00, when you receive a special code to enter the building.
Cute central accommodation, perfect for a solo female traveller. Not too fancy, but enjoyable for a couple of days. Clean and tidy. Nearby shops &restaurants (who in winter close very early). Very nice rooftop with the best view of the harbor. The room was small, but clean and comfy. Water pressure great, heating with the air conditioner. Tv with a couple french stations, nothing in english. Free toiletries and they changed towels every day. Very clean, comfy bed, which I liked a lot, no smells. Friendly staff, the ladies at the reception were nice and spoke good english. Great breakfast for only 10 Euro.

United KingdomThere are things that can hardly be improved given the historic nature of the building itself, such as the poor sound insulation, the material and design of doors, the confusing locks, .etc. The old air conditioner makes big noises when heating, and yet the effect of heating is not very good. It won't be a problem in most of the time of the year, but in winter, it is. Also in winter the terrace is bitterly cold, so no one can actually sit there and enjoy, though the view is still great.
The location is perfect. Great view from my window: the port and the fort. The toilet paper is of great quality (This is important, of course!). The duvet is very comfortable. Everything is astonishingly clean. I can see that the hotel owner has made great efforts to provide good experience with limited facilities.

United StatesShower was small and the partial door was not enough to keep water from spilling out. Understand it is a European thing but it was not comfortable
The hotel is literally a half block form the water. Although our room did not have a direct view of the Port, all we had to do was head to the roof, and there it was! The location was excellent with three bakeries, dozens of restaurants and shops steps away. The staff were all great and appreciated so much the young transplant from England who spoke English.
