An immaculate and spacious apartment. Modern and well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Cute little balcony. Located 50m from the square. It was perfect.

The apartment is immaculate and so tastefully renovated. It has everything you might need for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the raclette one evening. The kids loved the board games and the table tennis downstairs in the old barn.

Fabulous accommodation in a spectacular setting

Laurence, the host of the property was unable to meet us on the day we arrived but he messaged me with very explicit instructions and gaining entry to the appartment was easy and stress free. You enter through a downstairs garage and up a wooden staircase, but when you enter the appartment I must say that it definitely has the wow factor. An enormous open plan living room, dining room and kitchen are the first things you will see, together with a bathroom and bedroom off to one side. There are further bedrooms and a bathroom on the next level but as it was just the two of us staying we didn't bother to explore too much up there. A small outside furnished balcony completes the picture and overall I would definitely score this appartment an A star. We travelled to Laruns from Spain over the Pyrenees and the scenery is spectacular. The town of Laurens is very nice with enough bars and restaurants to keep you happy. We also travelled over to the next village of Eaux Bannes and did a short walk called the Promenade Horizontal, and the views over the valley back to Laurens are breathtaking. We wish we could have stayed more than one night in this fabulous accommodation and I would not hesitate in recommending it.

There is no street parking in front of the apartment. The only parking is in the square 1 block away or on streets farther away. Be careful, many of the public parking spaces are 1-hr only in the daytime. Because Laruns is a very small town, it is advisable to buy food supplies before you arrive. Nearly all stores are closed on Sunday and we were unprepared, but luckily there was a vendor down on the highway who offered roast ducks & a great selection of hot takeaway food. Finally, the beds were comfortable but quite small. The double beds were narrower than queen sized beds, and they were short. My husband & I ended up sleeping in separate beds in order to have enough room for each of us.

This is a lovely place to stay on the way to the breathtaking Col du Portalet pass over the Pyrenees, which has a wealth of hiking & cycling opportunities in summer & skiing in winter. The property is a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 bedrooms upstairs and a spacious great room & master bedroom downstairs. You enter the building through a door leading into an old horse & carriage barn on the main floor and an inside staircase leading up to 2 apartments above. Renovation of the building is nearly complete and the rental apartment on the top floors is very fresh and modern. The kitchen is new and appliances include a dishwasher & clothes washer/dryer. The upstairs bedrooms are very quiet at night, though the master bedroom facing the street had traffic noise in the early morning. The shower is excellent. There is a good small restaurant next door for dinner (Le Pourquois Pas, which fills up early so reserve in advance if you can) and a bakery up the street for morning croissants & coffee.

No complaints! Continued from above. The street in front of the apartment is a quaint residential street where they drive herds of sheep up in the morning and down in the evening. Street parking around the corner from the apartment was no problem. The owner, Laurence, was welcoming when we arrived and explained everything but didn’t spend time with us otherwise. Everything worked as it should so we didn’t need anything more either. I spoke with her in French as she doesn’t speak much English but she did have a backup English speaking person at the property in case my French was lacking.

Le Montagnon, a comfortable second story apartment, just off the main square, made a great base in Laruns for exploring the area. The spacious apartment on two levels has an open concept kitchen, dining room and living area with one bedroom and bathroom on the first level. Upstairs are two more bedrooms and another bathroom. We were staying as a couple and didn’t need the second floor. The recently redone apartment is tastefully decorated in woods with old stone walls and old beams. The modern finishes blend beautifully with the antique elements. While the bedrooms are largish they have just a double bed. The bed was comfortable. The downstairs bedroom had plenty of storage space, but the upper rooms do not have much. The upper rooms are dormer style with sky lights with views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Good Wi-Fi connection. The downstairs bathroom is spacious and has a good shower and a vanity with some amount of counter space. The toilet is in a separate room. The upstairs bathroom has a tub and is not set up well for showers. It also has a toilet in a separate room. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped. It has most of the things you need to cook a simple meal but not a large selection, i.e., one frying pan, two small sauce pans, various baking dishes, etc. There are, however, plenty of serving dishes, glasses and utensils. Appliances include a fridge, freezer, microwave, oven and a 3-burner cooktop. There is a small balcony terrace in back without much of a view furnished with a small table and chairs and a gas grill. This is a comfortable and spacious place for a couple, a small family or even two couples if you don’t mind sharing shower facilities. The apartment has a great location, just off the main square where there are a few restaurants, a small grocery store, a boulangerie, and a specialty cheese shop. A larger, more complete grocery store is an 8-minute walk at the other end of the street. Continued below.

bed linens in the master bedroom were too small for the mattress and kept coming off during the night.

Host was super friendly and accommodating, kept in touch during our arrival day (we arrived early) to keep us informed on when we could get the keys.
