Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Everything was perfect. Ouafaa and Daniel were great hosts and their son Jade was very helpful. The manoir is in an excellent location and you can walk on a path to the picturesque town of La Roque-Gageac in about 5 minutes. Our room was really well appointed with a super comfortable bed and nice views. The bathroom and shower were amazing! The breakfast was wonderful with many of the items prepared by Ouafaa herself and served in a room that could be a movie set. We wish we could have stayed longer!

AustraliaNothing. It was perfect.
Absolutely everything was perfect! The room we had was huge and decorated gorgeously, with a lovely view of the gardens and river, it was spotlessly clean, had a comfy bed with beautiful linen, soft fluffy towels, beautiful Clarins brand soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion (have never seen this luxury brand in any 5 star hotels), lovely gardens and pool area, was a 10 minute walk to La Roque Gageac, and is spectacularly set in an old manor house that the owner has lovingly restored from practically a ruin. Our bags were even loaded into a little electric cart which meant we didn’t have to carry them up the stairs. There was a communal fridge in the kitchen where you could keep any food of your own, along with access to plates, cutlery, wine glasses etc. The breakfast was amazing with so much to choose from including home made cakes, tarts and crème brûlée along with fruits, cheese, meats, bread, croissants, jams, yoghurts, cereal, and the omelettes were cooked to order. We were given recommendations for a couple of good restaurants nearby (one of which we tried and was fantastic), and the host even organised the breakfast buffet to be open an hour early for us when we had to leave to catch a flight. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt so very welcome. An amazing stay and the perfect end to our holiday in southern France.

United StatesWe were there in October on a Sunday and Monday night, the town was not very busy around dinner time, only one restaurant open. Beynac 4km up the rode had a nice restaurant.
The room was outstanding, the host was great. The grounds were fantastic, beautiful pool, very relaxing. Easy walk to town, fresh country air, more stars in the sky than I have ever seen in my life.

AustraliaGiven the quality of their breakfast, I hope that one day, the hosts will extend their offering with a dinner experience. A full-length mirror and close-up mirror (for those with poor eyesight) would be a valuable addition to the room in which we stayed.
Everything is to be liked about the Manoir de la Malartrie. The hosts were most helpful, warm and friendly. On arrival, we did not have to carry our luggage to our room and instead, got a tour of the property and gardens. The Manoir was ideally located (5-7 minutes walk from the town centre) with many car parking spaces within the property. The swimming pool and the gardens were perfectly maintained. The breakfast was a fantastic selection of homemade cooking and baking along with local specialties (yes, plenty of local cheese!) and fresh fruits. Before heading out for dinner, the host invited all the guests for an aperitif by the pool and some amuse-bouche, which added to the friendly atmosphere of the place.

United KingdomThe vehicular exit point: it is close to a bend in the road, the hosts have installed a light system to warn of approaching vehicles but a convex mirror might also assist visibility.
Beautiful location overlooking the river, set in most attractive gardens just outside the village offering easy walk to restaurants. We stayed in June and La roque de gageac was still quiet in the evenings. The hosts were most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for 3 nights in the main hotel, rooms are unique ,there are soft towels in the bathroom, and beautiful fresh flowers in all rooms. Breakfast offered a wide choice of fruits, homemade delicacies , cold meats and cheeses, and omelette if appetite permits served in the elegant dining room or in the garden by the swimming pool depending on the weather. The hydrangeas in the garden were in full bloom and stunning; the terraced gardens offered secluded areas with tables and chairs to relax and read. The property is extremely well kept.

Breakfast was a feast every morning and it is so convenient to walk into la rouge gageac, go canoeing on the dordogne river or drive to nearby sites. Everything about the hotel is amazing, one of the best hotels I have stayed at. Location on the river just outside the village is perfect, so peaceful. We stayed in the annex and had our own private garden area to relax. The owner makes the hotel experience superb she provides exceptional service with a smile. We heard the breakfast was incredible and had it on our last morning and it was the best breakfast I have had at any hotel, we had it at a small table by the pool overlooking the river, what a treat.
