Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hostel should set age limit for God’s sake because I was put in a room with an old selfish Chinese guy who turned off AC and turned off all lights very early. The room was full of his disgusting stinky smell. The worst part was he didn’t speak English at all, which was a freaking nightmare when he put a stupid translator in front of my mouth for every sentence i said (very disrespectful)
Staff was friendly (although they tried to convince me there was no available bed to change when there was an old wired guy in the room, but eventually I got changed to another room for one night).

United KingdomI felt it was too loud within the hostel. There were lots of large groups of people, namely small children persistently running up and down the stairs all throughout the day and even until around 00:40 at one point at night. There are lots of large groups of teenagers hanging around outside the hostel too. During the day this isn’t so much of a problem, but it’s frustrating on a night after a long day walking around and the staff appearing to do very little to stop the noise and it’s a little inconsiderate for the other guests. The bathrooms were nice and clean, as was the shower. But something a little unusual is the lack of locks in bathrooms, both the female and male and unisex ones. There are locks on the toilets but these are separate from the bathrooms. I never had a problem with showering and there being no locks on the doors, but this is something for others to consider when thinking of whether or not to stay here. The kitchen wasn’t the cleanest, and there was no kettle (at least from what I could see anyway) which was a little strange as there were coffees and teas there.
The location for this hostel is great, as it’s a short walk from the city centre and has a lot of great coffee places nearby (namely the one directly opposite the accommodation). It’s also fairly quiet on a night. Towels are provided, as is a giant locker which is useful for bags of all sizes e.g. large backpacks, small rucksacks etc. They also give you your own key for your locker so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own. The staff at check-in are friendly and helpful (towels do not come provided, but if you ask at reception they will give you one free of a deposit).

EstoniaThe kitchen was dark and uninviting, also there was no kettle to boil water with. Do not a nice place for eating. Also the common area was in the basement. And there wasn't much of an atmosphere
Everything except for the kitchen and common area

ItalyIt is written that free parking is possible with reservation, but it's a lie. When I asked to reserve, they told me that, since they don't have many lots, private rooms had priority and it was not possible to park if I was in a dormitory. I had to use a garage they recommended, spent more than 20€, and their private parking was definitely not full
Comfy bed, clean, nice staff, huge lockers

South KoreaThe bathroom situation was a bit odd, it was clean but there was a unisex bathroom with male toilets and showers, but the female bathroom didnt have any toilets, so the unisex had to be used. Also, there was no option for female-only dorms.
The staff was extremely friendly, the friendliest and most helpful staff in a hostel i've come across thus far :) the facilities were clean, there was a nice balcony for each room, the hostel location was in the center of the city but quite secluded, hidden behind some buildings through an alley!

SerbiaIt’s a very basic hostel, to my taste. The main thing is that it wasn’t pleasant to stay in the room or in the kitchen: the furniture is dated, the bunk bed too low to sit comfortably, the overall look and feel not cozy (you can get a much better effect, painting the walls light and with the basic Ikea furniture). Also, it was very cold in our room (April is cold this year). The kitchen is very small, and it’s hard to be there, if somebody else already occupied the table. I think you must pay for the towels, at least there were none in the room, and i was too lazy to check.
Location is great, right in the center on the pedestrian street. You can reserve a parking spot in the yard, which is super convenient. Everything is clean. The mattress was comfortable.

United KingdomCan be noisy and the rooms are very basic, but you don't choose a hostel for luxury!!
Location was good, just 15 minutes walk from the station or a tram from just outside the station to within a couple of minutes away. The staff on reception were great, very helpful. Being a hostel it can get noisy and there's not much soundproofing. Bed was comfortable enough, bathroom facilities were good.
