The spa was very average, spa staff average, constant buzzing in the relaxing area, pool average, not a great spa. Restaurant weak drinks, poor quality food and so overpriced! Not as grand as it should be.

The sea view from the room was really nice, the room was a good size. Breakfast was nice and service good too.

The restaurant at the top of the hotel was very expensive. Our waitress was very rude and the food was subpar at best. I would recommend walking down the street to find better food at better prices.

The rooms were large and well furnished. The pool was pretty, but very small and bit too cold to swim in early June. The spa was nice - but like most of the hotel, is starting to show it's age. The staff was friendly and very helpful when we rented bikes for a few hours and needed a taxi for the airport.

Although it seemed like a great deal for one night in Livorno, the additional charges at the arrival (parking, city tax, region tax, etc) didn't make it to much of a deal anymore. The interior looks fancy (marbles, statues, granite) but you can see that over time things didn't get very well maintained. Room was cozy and quiet. Rust was visible inside the bathroom faucets, and front desk staff don't like to be asked too many questions. Kind of a get in and out type of experience.

Hotel location is great, rooftop bar with a seaview. Staff is very professional, gave us a 1980's kind of luxury experience.

I was very disappointed that the indoor spa was closed for our entire stay and I was not informed that they are closed all day Monday and Tuesday until 15- so I was unable to use the spa (which is why I booked the hotel). However, to compensate, we were offered an upgrade to a suite. Make sure you check that the spa will be available.

It has the feel of a large old fashioned hotel. The staff was nice , the location was right across the beach.

This place, at least our room need renew, toilet buttons are broken, when you push to flush all that plastic go away and need to fix each time. On breakfast could be a la carte menu, in my country in 4* is a la carte breakfast menu. That would be nicer breakfast with included nice hot dishes and deserts aka pancakes, benedicts, pies and etc. Some of the staff was making faces when we came. We were on vacation and dressed simple, so we catched judging faces from staff. That was not appropriate. Because staff cant know who we are or our material status. So that snobish behaviour in my opinion for 5* hotel is bad. Staff could ask clients maybe they need help like maps, taxi or etc to discover the city or places. We saw people who seemed to come for work, so probably for them that questions about transportation, lications would be good too and helpful. In other hotels staff do that no matter how many stars it has. Moreover we stayed more nights, just one booking was from my account.

First of all Good location. Quite good room, high seiling, tasty breakfast. Good toileteries/cosmetic. Cleaning lady done her job good between days.

Pool functional but upgrading concrete around the pool. Only weeds in planter boxes on balcony - top floor balconies need maintenance regarding plants and decking ( but I was still very grateful to receive an upgrade with a balcony!)

We were upgraded to a top floor apartment balcony ( had booked garden room). Room had separate living and bedroom area. Very clean and modern. Great views and very large balcony. Bus stop outside hotel for trips into town and railway station.

Perhaps we were unlucky or just allocated to a poor room - but many things didn't work and the situation did improve a little bit thanks to the wonderful staff - my very personal opinion is that parts of the hotel are now crumbling and in desperate need of update. - Air conditioning didn't work at all, so we had to keep the windows open at night - we got woke up in the early morning by cars and vans, plus during the night by the occasional motorbike, this issue wasn't raised with the staff - internet would work intermittently and we had to manually turn it off and on many many times, and hope it would work a bit, there is no/very little mobile signal in the room so this was a real challenge, this was raised with the staff but it would still work intermittently - the room safe storage was clearly not used for a while and needed some maintenance, which was done while we waited when we raised this - we had to decide if we wanted to charge our phones or use the night stand lamp, because only one power socket (out of two, on each side of the bed) worked fine, this was raised but not solved - an emergency light would faintly blink all night long, I'm all up for emergency lights but I bet there are less intrusive ways, this wasn't raised - some drawers (like the one in the room console) won't stay closed for some reasons which I didn't investigate, this wasn't raised On our side of responsibility I have to say that some issues weren't raised to the staff, but then (given our relatively short stay) I don't think it's fair to expect us to dedicate a lot of time to raise basic issues in a "Grand Hotel"

Great place to stay in the area, the building looks stunning from the outside, there is parking and the staff is so amazing they make you feel the most important person in the place. We especially liked the ability to walk around without taking the car that much. If you like history, the hotel will remind you of all the famous people that spent their nights and days in the structure. Amongst other things we liked: - we were offered free drinks on arrival, which we didn't use - the rooftop pool looks fantastic - we were recommended a nearby café (as an alternative to the hotel breakfast) and we do appreciate good suggestions
