Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceLocated so close to ballarò market that it can be noisy at moments.
Large rooms, simple furniture but practical. Ideal location when arriving by train/bus, half way between stations and touristic center. Very nice and helpful staff. Fun place to stay, as the hotel is located in a renovated aisle of an old palace.

Czech RepublicI do not recommend for families with children, the street from which you enter the hotel is full of strange people, homeless people and there is a mess. They often yelled at us and in the evening I would be afraid to go here alone as a girl, it was fine like a couple. In the hotel, you can hear a lot from the street and the surroundings can scare some of you. It wasn't such a big problem for us - just for info.
The hotel exuded a historical atmosphere to me, it might frighten some, but I liked the hotel's premises and its inner courtyard. The room was a bit to a busier street, but it met everything we needed for a short stay. Everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. Wifi worked perfectly fast. The private bathroom was just three doors away, it wasn't a problem for us. The breakfast was great and Chiara is very nice and helpful person. The hotel is within walking distance to the center to the most beautiful sights.

United KingdomThe entrance is not very visible and it took me a while to work out the intercom. My room had some street noise.
Set on the first floor of a stunning Palazzo. The rooms are simple but the shower was hot and the air conditioning worked. The location is very central - close to Ballaro market. Good to have breakfast included.

GermanyI would have loved to have a sign in the room to signal that i dont need a room refresh every day.
Entering the building through the Gates really was a surprise. The building itself is beautiful, the ceiling in the breakfast room was stunning. My room was very basic but clean. Everything in order. The Hotel is very central. Just 2min by foot from the central Station and located right in the heart of the City. The perfect location to explore the city by foot. Breakfast was also quite good with lots of options.

AustraliaIt's not really a hotel as such, reception isn't 'manned' very often and breakfast was left in the room the day of check in
Location was very convenient to train station and sights and the entrance courtyard is a real taste of old Palermo

United KingdomDifficult to find - very small sign on door. Neighbourhood is a bit dirty and it was noisy at night. Although the breakfast looked lovely, my croissant was stale.
Convenient location near the station, shops and tourist areas. Friendly, helpful staff. Spectacular entrance courtyard and breakfast room. Comfortable bed, large modern room with balcony and spotlessly clean bathroom. Loved the quirky charm of the building with its marble staircase and painted ceiling.

Great location. Right near the Ballaro market which is a crazy, mad, fun market and well worth seeing and Via Maqeda , the street the B&B is on, is a fantastic shopping strip. It leads you straight down to Quatro Canti where there is 3 other great streets for shopping/ restaurant/ bars, and plenty to do. The room was a good size. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. There wasn’t a hairdryer unfortunately. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. There isn’t a lift but if you go upstairs they will get a young man to help you with your luggage. We gave him a tip as it’s a huge staircase! They also very kindly booked a cab for us when leaving. Breakfast was great, with some savoury options. Sausage in a roll, ham in a small roll as well as yoghurt, fruit, sweet rolls etc.

GermanyThe hotel is located it what once must have been a very opulent building. However today, it is not in the nicest areas of palermo - but on the up side it is not a long walk away from the more tourist friendly areas. The staff were all very pleasant and helped us to find a parking spot. The breakfast was fine.
