Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Japannothing everything was perfect , just be aware that breakfast and dinner contained seafood, for me it was good as I like it and the fish were so good but for vegetarian people that can be a problem

AustraliaIsana resort is the perfect hidden gem accommodation. The private onsen overlooking the water was so lovely, however our favourite part of our stay was the amazing food and incredibly helpful staff. We were caught out on one day and didn't arrange transport in advance, and the staff went out of their way to drop us off at Mt Omaru on the way home from their shift. Staying here was the most special part of our trip

JapanThe facilities are slightly outdated now.
Great short vacation stay that you can access from Tokyo in several hours. It is really enjoyable to get relaxed both physically and mentally after hard work. The dinner provided by the resort was awesome.

AustraliaThe hospitality and friendliness of the staff was the biggest highlight for us. They truly went above and beyond to make our stay special and memorable. For example before we arrived they proactively reached out to check whether whether there was anything they could help prepare for us, and when I told them we were coming to celebrate my partners birthday, they offered to prepare welcome champagne on arrival which was so thoughtful. They also offered an opportunity to upgrade our room, which we gladly accepted. The room was unbelievable - panoramic views of the ocean, private outdoor onsen and really comfortable bedding. In addition to the private onsen, the staff let us know that guests could reserve time to privately use the hotels larger onsen on ground floor. This onsen was also lovely and a totally different experience and vibe, so we felt appreciative to be able to experience that privately too. The building is a little older but has been maintained extremely well. We found it to be very clean and full of charm. The breakfast was outstanding, showcasing a range of different Japanese techniques and cuisine. It was definitely one of our favourite dining experiences even after 5 weeks of travelling in Japan! Coffee delicious too. This was a really wonderful stay for us in all respects. An especially big thank you to the staff. Highly highly highly recommend.

ThailandWe did not understand the meal options. Dinners can be booked at the resort but they look like very large meals with many dishes. They are also quite expensive. Similarly the breakfast options are not clear.
Albeit a bit old, Isana is nice and quiet. We had a room with our own onsen on the balcony. Very nice. There is also a large onsen which you can reserve. We were overlook the sea which is a very short walk away. Staff were very helpful. We were fortunate to have Japanese friends who live in Izu and who took us around. Izu is an historical place. It is difficult to stay in Isana if you have no transport. The resort has few meal options, and any shop or restaurant is quiet a distance away.

CanadaIt is very hard to navigate around the area if you didn’t come with a car. Lack of food options, no convenience stores around. We were charged extra for the breakfast which confused us a bit because our booking included breakfast, but we are trying to solve this now.
Absolutely the best service we received in Japan! Vivian and the gentlemen who drove us to the Futo station and the convenience store were lovely. Private onsen in the bedroom was amazing, which we used multiple times a day! They also have a bigger private onsen that you can book for 40 minutes just to yourself. The Japanese Breakfast was immaculate and the chef speaks English fluently.

United StatesThe room could be configured and furnished better, maybe with clothes hooks or pegs so clothing can be hung up. We ended up using the wooden decorative room divider as clothes hanging niches. Garments don’t really fit in the armoire, which is more decorative than functional. We would have loved a water source to refill water bottles for our day treks and evenings. Otherwise, our enjoyment of the people and food outweighed any inconvenience!
We had a wonderful stay at the Isana Resort. The rooms are fairly simple but with great individual open air hot tubs with soothing mineral spring water. What stood out the most were the wonderful staff who work there and the most amazing meals we had in our entire trip. Chef Hide Kurosawa is a young energetic chef with talent beyond his years. His Maui roots gave us islanders an instant connection with him. The food was sublime; a French Japanese fusion of amazing flavors with the freshest of ingredients. The dining room has a display of the wagyu beef aging and local fish drying. Both dinner and breakfast were fantastic. The staff, especially Vivian, was so welcoming and accommodating. Vivian’s English is terrific and she was so service oriented and cheerful always. We felt like we were visiting long lost relatives. The resort is on a cliff side overlooking the ocean adjacent to small winding streets and the coastal road. We had a car, which made the stay there more convenient as it would be more difficult to tour the gorgeous Jagosaki Coast without wheels. There is nothing in the world like lying in mineralized hot spring water, looking at the stars and hearing the sound of the waves. In addition to our room’s hot tub we could reserve the private onsen for use and it was never busy.

United StatesThe bartender could benefit from learning some basic American cocktail recipes. We ordered bourbon old fashions and they were stumped as to what goes in it. We were handed whiskey on the rocks :) Other than that, everything else was great!
This property exceeded our expectations due to the staff who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Vivian was very hospitable and accommodating, and such a talented pianist! Chef Hide Kurokawa's culinary creations were extraordinary. The freshly caught fish entrees were a work of art and Chef's in-house aged A5 Wagyu beef was over the top! His restaurant deserves a Michelin star!

CanadaNothing. Everything is meeting my expectation.
This cozy hotel is located right next to the ocean which is exceptionally beautiful. The private semi open onsen in room is amazing. You can relax in the natural hot spring anytime you prefer while listening to the wave. The room is good size for a couple of 2 with very comfortable beds. The hotel provides personal service. All hotel staff are very helpful and cheerful. Vivian did a great job welcoming us to our room, explaining every detail on hotel facilities, meal arrangement etc. She also served meals and explained each food item to us. Thank you Vivian! Loved both the breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food presentation, menu design, the quality are all exceptional.

ThailandThe location is a bit far from downtown. You should use a car or a taxi. However, the resort offers you a shuttle service from train stations. Overall, it's still worth to visiting there.

United StatesKeep in mind that this is a ryokan, not a traditional hotel - so, you are meant to relax and enjoy your stay! Don't book this location for a one-night layover.
We visited during the off-season. We loved the quiet neighborhood, perfect for walking and exploring as a couple. The resort itself was very well kept and beautiful! We loved that the resort was small, only having perhaps 10-20 rooms. We felt like we had individual service whenever we needed it and privacy when we didn't. The private onsen in our room had an amazing view of the coastline.

This place was 200% fantastic. The host picked me up at the train station and we headed to the resort after made a short stop at the convenience store. The resort was well decorated and just next to the seaside. I enjoyed the sunshine and rain in the private bath with the sea view, and that was so relaxing. The breakfast and 7 course-dinner was extraordinary (check out pics, they will speak for themselves) I highly recommend this place to everyone
