Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandNothing really, maybe the onsen was crowded during golden weekend ;)
Very centrally located, literally just outside the Nara station and next to the main street going into the Nara park. This was already my second time at this hotel and it was nice to see that the hotel was still in great condition.

SwitzerlandRoom size a bit on the smaller side, and no views at all. The rest is ok. You won't regret this hotel at all. Maybe the onsen could be a bit bigger... but it is ok. It even has an outdoor area!
Cute hotel with included onsen right opposite Nara train station. The hotel is super clean as no shoes are allowed. The onset is on the small side, but it is ok for a couple of nights. The room is quite small, so try to get one as big as you can. The breakfast was really good. The location is superb. Directly opposite the main train station and two steps away from the Main Street with lots of shops and restaurants.

United KingdomIt was tricky to find as there is no English sign outside despite it being called an English name at least on booking.com It’s very traditional so be aware you will need to remove shoes at the hotel lobby and place them into a locker. The lounge had only two massage chairs that were always full.
The onsen must be one of the best in Japan. The free noodles were also some of the best I’ve had in Japan. There were free ice creams and yackults. Staff were friendly.

United KingdomRooms are a bit small and our room was probably about 30m from the train tracks, so a bit noisy.
Located right next to the main station and at the beginning of the main boulevard, offering access to all the tourist attractions and restaurants. The common baths are nicely equipped and maintained.

ItalyI was fine with it but my wife didn't really like the trains sound, coming from the nearby station. I think this won't be a problem for most people, maybe the rooms on the other side of the building are fine. The windows provide a very good sound proofing, from outside. One thing that I can't review is the Breakfast, I was a bit put off by its price so didn't take it, but it is probably worth it since it's a buffet. I'll pay the extra and try it the next time.
This hotel has everything I needed for my trip. It has a great onsen available all night, it's in a convenient place, and very clean and quiet. I particularly liked the Onsen, it's just what I was looking for. It is just in front of the JR Nara station, at a walking distance form the main attractions. The staff is professional and available to answer your needs.

AustraliaThis has modern windows but tradition shutters. Unfortunately we weren’t able to make the room darker so we were up at the crack of dawn
Cleanest property we stayed at throughout our trip to Japan. Being opposite the train station was so convenient. Simple rooms . Comfortable bed. Loved the traditional stay as well as a wonderful buffet breakfast. Onsen facilities was great

United KingdomReally great stay!
What an incredible place this is! The hotel is located right next to Nara train station and it serves 200 guests in the hotel but it runs so seamlessly it feels like it’s way less people in there. Onsen facilities are incredible, rooms with tatami carpets are beautiful and they have little touches that make the experience even better - they have free massage chairs, free to use washing machines, they give out complimentary ramen in the evening, they give out little ice creams and probiotic youghurts. The staff are lovely and they go above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable. Can’t wait to return!

RomaniaThe location is not the best, really close to the train station, but you'll have to walk a bit to the Park and main attractions. Still not too bad.
Very nice place to stay at and an interesting experience to be in a hotel with tatami everywhere and you will walk barefoot inside the hotel. Then onsen is really nice and the rooms are cozy.

SwitzerlandIt is near the train rail so I could hear the train passing. It wasn’t a problem for me, but I can imagine it could problematic for other people.
This hotel is incredible! Onsen, Sauna included and open during the night. This is the dream! In addition, there is tatami in the floor giving this very nice Japanese touch! If you plan to stay 1-2 day in Nara, I would recommend to add an additional day to enjoy the hotel installation. 🤩

MalaysiaGreat location as we did not expect the hotel is just located right next to the Nara Station. We were carrying big luggages but the hotel is just so accessible. Across the road, it's busiest street of Nara. All the way till the end you can find the legendary mochi place. But what makes the stay experience so great is that there's tatami flooring in the entire hotel. There's also free flow ice-cream provided after onsen.

AustraliaWe liked everything
We booked this hotel because it was conveniently close to the railway station, was relatively inexpensive and had positive reviews. We enjoyed staying there. The staff were friendly. The location was good (a little away from the busy tourist area) and the hotel was very clean and had good amenities. The onsen was excellent, as was the massage chair. We were walking distance from great places to eat too.

SingaporeDue to the proximity to the train station, some rooms face the train tracks and you can hear the trains going by. Not a big problem for me but you might want to request for a room on the other sides if you are a light sleeper. Pillows are super flat and hard. My neck felt a little sore after the first night but I was able to request for higher pillows from the front desk the next day. Future nights were very comfortable. The hotel can consider including a tracker on the massage chairs. There is an option for daily housekeeping (you can choose via the TV) and the hotel provides a night wear (shirt and pants) which you can use throughout the hotel but I don’t think the old set gets replaced with a new one during housekeeping. Not a big issue though as you can just request for a new set at the front desk.
Just 5 min away from JR Nara Station (you can see the hotel right after you exit the station). It was very convenient for those with luggage as the road to the hotel is quite smooth, we only had to cross 1 street. I loved the onsen, sauna and massage chairs. There are free ice creams and a meiji milk vending machine (140 yen each), which are great after a warm bath. Washing machines are free to use, and the dryers cost 100 yen for 10 min. The evening ramen was yummy as well and you can request for more than a bowl if you are hungry. There are free orange juice, coke, oolong tea, fanta etc. too. The hotel staff were warm and welcoming. Other than Japanese, some speak English and Chinese. So communication was very smooth. There is a TV in the room which shared live status of the hotel’s shared areas like how crowded were the onsen and restaurant, as well as which washing machines / dryers were in use and for how long. I really appreciated this as I could pick a timing to go down and have the facilities ready for use. The blackout curtains were so effective that I overslept…
