  • Salisbury Street Guesthouse Review score: 10

“This was my second time staying at this lovely guesthouse. The communication with the hosts was excellent, it is reassuring when you know they are very approachable and just a phone call away if needed. The location is good, quite central. The cooking facilities are practical. I had a bigger room this time, there was a desk, which was handy for work. WiFi worked well. In general, I found everything I could ever possibly need, and with an excellent quality. This is a place to return to when I am back in the area again.”

  • Thorndene B&B Review score: 10

“Absolutely SUPERB stay at Thorndene B&B! Located just outside of Hope (15 min walk to the township), it is a beautiful historic building with manicured gardens. Outdoor furniture was handy when divesting of muddy boots and hiking gear (plus left muddy boots inside the front door to not cause any mischief on the carpets!) Stayed for 5 nights to hike in various areas of the Peak District. My stay was FAULTLESS. Generously sized room, huge amounts of storage (wardrobe and dressers), lovely bay windows with view of the garden and road (and blue skies). Also plenty of space to set up toiletries in the bathroom. Radiator and heated towel rail. My bed was even "made up" daily and the bathroom cleaned too! Many breakfast options - I went with the full cooked hot English breakfast to fuel up for a day of hiking (you simply cross out the items you don't want) plus toast, tea and juice. Each morning John had a friendly face to greet me at the breakfast table! The breakfast sitting room also had lovely views and could be used after hours for tea/coffee as well as general use - I used my computer and planned some hikes (plenty of reading material and information about the local arae too). Free wifi was great and reliable too. John and Diane were wonderful hosts - quick to answer questions on the booking app and also to discuss hiking options! Plenty of options for eating and visiting nearby villages, there is a Spar supermarket in Hope for snacks etc so very convenient. Only a few minutes walk to Hope train station also, but I drove. I would definitely love to stay here again in a heartbeat!”
