The house is only a 10 minute drive from the airport (€20 by taxi) and a 10 minute drive from Ivalo where there is a large supermarket and other basic facilities. For a wider selection of restaurants and activities, Saariselkä is only a 20 min drive and hence the house is perfectly situated for everything you need, whilst also being super secluded and quiet. We visited in the winter (Dec/Jan) and it was magical in the snow, with the frozen lake making for a beautiful backdrop! When booking I was hesitant with the airport nearby, but with there only being only a few flights a day and it being far enough away, it really didn't cause any disturbance at all - if anything, it was a more of convenience to be nearby. The facilities in the house were great, with everything you'd need for a short and long stay. There was also a fire and sauna which we didn't use, but all was easy to set up if you so wished. The owner was very responsive and replied quickly whenever we had any questions. We were provided with lots of YouTube videos for how to operate everything - very useful! We were also super lucky during our stay, with the Aurora Borealis flowing straight over the house one evening! The frozen lake and open views made for an exceptional viewing of the lights, if you get lucky. We felt like we had our own private display! A once in a lifetime experience which was enhanced by the location of the house and its situation on the lake. Don't hesitate to book, we had a trip of a lifetime here!

An ideal location for a night on the way to the farthest north. Can possibly be a decent base for trips in Lapland too. Easy to find, even though Google Maps doesn't know about it - thanks to the clear instructions from the host. Free parking, a good kitchen, easy check-in process, a warm and cosy room.

Perfect spot to spend a few nights with friends and explore the Ivalo and Inari area. The kitchen is very well-equipped, the living room is cozy and the bedrooms are comfortable. Bed linen and towels are provided. We had an issue with the sauna and the host was very responsive and made her best to resolve the situation as soon as possible. Highly recommend!

Set a 5-minute drive from Ivalo town centre, Ivalo River Camping offers heated cottages with shared kitchen facilities in the summer time, free parking and free WiFi. The location was wonderful - it felt like I was secluded and out in nature, but in reality I was a short bike ride away from everything I needed (you can borrow bicycles from the reception when there isn't snow, and snowmobiles when there is). Alternatively, I could have walked everywhere but it would have taken a bit longer (although people do this, and I was able to walk to the airport at the end of my stay). The property is easily accessible by bus. It has its own special stop on the route from Rovaniemi to Ivalo. The staff were wonderful - friendly, helpful, warm. As a solo traveler staying in a hut in the middle of somewhat remote northern Finland, I felt very safe and secure. The accommodations provide you everything you need - a warm, comfortable place to sleep, hot showers, kitchen if needed, WiFi. You can purchase food at reception or go into town. You can drink the tap water. There is hiking, walking, nature scenes to be had in the immediate vicinity. Simply walking or biking alongside the river is such a treat. You are able to see the northern lights outside your cabin when the sky is clear and dark, no need to chase them in a car. I originally wanted to stay in a glass igloo, but they are so expensive. Here, I could look out my window and see how the sky looked, and then take a few steps outside if I wanted to see better, and that provided me with some beautiful scenes. When it's quiet, you can hear huskies barking in the distance, but it's not too loud that you are kept awake. Overall, the ambience is lovely and exactly what I came here for. In the middle of the forest, but with other houses in the area. Very close to the center of Ivalo. There are a lot of beds and they are very nice. There is Wifi internet which is not to fast, but enough for checking your email.

Aurora Village Ivalo ligger i Ivalo og har hytter med glastag så du kan opleve nordlyset fra din seng. På overnatningsstedet er der bl.a. Wow! What a fantastic stay at Aurora Village. Beautiful accommodation and delicious meals. Lots of activities to do. A highlight was the Husky Sledding and the Wood Barrel Sauna/Ice Swim.

This Finnish Lapland holiday village is situated right by the Ivalo River. It offers double rooms, holiday cottages, a caravan area, summer cottages and a camping area. The location at the frozen river was very beautiful. The staff was exceptionally helpful, the guide Tomas was extra kind and most surprisingly he speaks excellent Slovak:) We rented cross-country skis directly at the property and explored the forests and area around which was a breathtaking experience. It is not too far (walking/skiing) to Ivalo city where you can do grocery shopping if you need or buy souvenirs.
