It was so nice to live in a small neighborhood instead of a tourist resort! Carlos, the host, was a wonderful help with any arrangements we needed. The apartment was spotless. We are going back to stay there again!

Acabamos de empezar nuestro viaje a Costa Rica y hemos empezado por Tortuguero, concretamente en San Francisco y no sabemos si hemos hecho mal, porque Elena, Eduardo y Elvin han sido unos anfitriones inmejorables. No hemos sentido que estábamos en un país diferente al nuestro, nos hemos sentido en casa. Las cabañas son preciosas, de reciente construcción y tienen todas las comodidades, el entorno parece sacado de una película, y su amabilidad te hace sentir especial. El pueblo es pequeño y muy curioso de ver, sus gentes son honradas y acogedoras. El enclave es increíble, un lugar donde se juntan rio y mar. Y el desove de las tortugas un espectáculo de la naturaleza. Nos ha dejado con la boca abierta el respeto que tienen por la flora y la fauna y lo que cuidan el lugar en el que viven. Nos hemos ido de su casa con lágrimas en los ojos. Pura vida.

I'm so glad having booked Casa Chilamate 2.0 for 3N which - together with the tours by Arturo from TripsNativos - was THE very highlight of two weeks travelling across CR. Casa 2.0 means there was a new bungalow in a well maintaned garden, equipped with everything one would need including kitchen facilities, good A/C and ventilator. I loved that the property is on the edge of the village, and next to the Nationsl Park. Means living among locals, without the tourists noises from the walking street, but with a group of monkeys as neighbors living in the tree 2 meters next to the bungalow, roaming on the patio roof, sound of birds, and the last morning even the paw prints of a Jaguar at the tiles infront of the door from a nightly visit! I was also welcomed by a fruit bowl of oranges and bananas which I much appreciated. The location is also a perfect start for tours and excursions in the beautiful nature surrounding Tortuguero. I can highly recommend to rent a guide from TripsNativos (run by Casa Chilamates), try to get Arturo as a guide. He was an absolutely fab, intelligent, enthusiastic but humble guy. By booking a tour with TripsNativos you also support the local music school for kids, where parts of the tour earnings are donated to. Last but not least: While I didn't met the owners of Casa Chilamates in person during my stay, the messaging via booking.com was perfect, and their friends/caretakers of the house were so lovely people, worth an extra visit just to meet them again. Would I return, and recommend to friends? Absolutely, 100%.

Carlos ha sido encantador desde el momento que llegamos! Nos ha ayudado con todo y nos hemos sentido muy cómodos. El apartamento tiene lo que uno necesita para unos días de estancia además de estar muy limpio y muy bien situado. El aire acondicionado es fantástico para los días de mucho calor.Está a las puertas del parque nacional, muy cerca de la playa y la zona más comercial. Lo recomendaríamos sin dudarlo. The property is very clean, the beds very comfortable, the Wi-Fi works excellently. The interior decoration is very good style (if I am not mistaken, many decorations are produced by Rodrigo and his wife). The house, is located slightly outside the center of the village at the edge of the jungle: at night, the sounds of nature are fantastic! Special mention goes to Rodrigo, his wife and Arturo, our hiking guide. Great people, extremely kind and helpful. Such friendliness is a rare commodity these days! I highly recommend the proposed tours, Arturo is extremely knowledgeable and will make you experience unique moments!

The hosts, Oscar and Karen, were superbly welcoming and friendly. Our favourite stay in all of Costa Rica! Quiet clean rooms with comfortable beds, individual A/C in our room, private bathroom and good shower. Safe and private. Well-equipped kitchen and a delightful covered patio to relax. We spotted a variety of birds, iguana, and a far off monkey from there. Easy walk to stores, restaurants, the boat dock, and the Tortuguero National Park. Oscar has his on boat with a quiet trolling motor, and he gave us an early morning boat tour of the National Park canals. He’s wonderful guide at spotting wildlife- many birds, spider monkeys, caiman, lizards.

Todo, el desayuno es excelente una buena porción y delicioso. La ubicación es de las mejores, cerca del muelle principal, restaurantes y supermercados. La amabilidad de Carmen y Angelo es incomparable. Siempre atentos a todos los detalles y dispuestos a brindar ayuda y muy buenos concejos. La pasamos súper bien.

big room for myself, with kitchen and patio, right in front of the beach. it's out of the village centre so it's very quiet which I love. the beach is beautiful. sunrise on the beach right in front of my door. the night tour starts right around the corner. it's a 10min walk to the centre but I never felt unsafe to walk there even at night by myself as a girl. besides you can walk on the beach was lucky to baby turtles hatching walking on the beach away from the village centre
