One of our favorite parts of El Valle was just sitting on the patio and looking at the view. If you go in the rainy season, then having a place with a huge patio like this is essential since it will inevitably rain at some point and listening to the rain and watching the clouds move over the valley from this spot is perfect. And it is so clean, which is impressive considering again how large the outdoor area is. The walk into town is very charming and a great way to see the town and plants.

Perfect for our 3 night stay. It’s a 5 min walk to a good size supermarket, 15 mins to the main ‘downtown’ Avenida with restaurants and the mercado. 3 amazing hikes to the top of the ancient caldera, and the butterfly farm is a must see. We were able to park our car inside their gate, and the home is a 15 min walk to access one of the 3 primary hikes in the area, India Dormida. Jose and his partner, Liz, are wonderful hosts, and made us feel like family. The breakfast is simple and filling, and we could use their fridge and also made a meal or two using the kitchen facilities. Jose and Liz are gracious hosts and Jose is very witty. They made our time there a truly fun and memorable experience. Communication was excellent, in English and Spanish, despite my spouse and I having very limited Spanish language skills. Local knowledge, tips, and recommendations on things to do in the area were great and super appreciated. Finally, Jose joined us on one of our hikes and he made it super fun and interesting with his knowledge of local flora and fauna. Very pleasant and quiet place with comfortable and spotless rooms. Warm shower in bathroom. Amazing breakfasts with variety of fresh fruit, fruitshake, eggs to order, crepes, homemade bread and great pastry. Very nice and attentive owners. Short walk distance to amazing beach of Santa Clara. We would recommend this oasis of calm to everybody.
