Great breakfast as well. When we were the only guests to have lunch, the chef composed our menu with us - The view on the lake and the environment are amazing. We did a nice walk along the lake and saw some animals like impalas, monkeys, birds etc. We even saw a big group of wildebeests just passing down our plunge pool! - I have to finish with what impressed us the most, which was the staff, always nearby but discreet, ready to answer all needs of the guests, they always made sure we were comfortable. I will not hesitate to recommend The Retreat to anyone who is visiting Karatu or Ngorongoro Crater.

If you have read other reviews from properties in Tanzania indicating how friendly and genuine were the staff, that’s because it’s usually true. But this place was over the top. We were sorry to leave. It is located within Tarangire Park, which jacks up the price since you are paying entry fees for every day you are there, but we found it well worthwhile for the week we spent there. Very few people do that, and we spent some days NOT doing the usual safari, observing quietly the life that came by, as opposed to chasing after it in a car.

It was amazing. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the food was amazing. They helped us with the Safari geeps and we had an amazing experience. The drivers, were very nice and helpful, the cars were very good, the hole experience was incredible. I can't wait to go back again. ❤️
