Absolutely phenomenal stay. It is so tranquil and you feel like you are staying in the middle of the forest. There is a little swimming hole right on the property, which is such a lovely mini walk, there were a bunch of other hikes to go on with waterfalls,, but my time was limited. All the facilities are up to standard, if not better than expected. I was assisted with my poor attempt at starting a fire. I had a lovely chat and warm greeting from Sofia, who gave me all the tips for the area, including the best coffee spots and walks in the area. This was the perfect little get away! I stayed in one of the eco huts and found the perfect balance of comfort and glamping. WOULD RECOMMEND 10/10.

Our accommodation in Diwan was in an excellent location for exploring the amazing Daintree rainforest and Cape Tribulation. Nothing was further than 25 minutes away by car including Cow Bay, the Daintree Rainforest Discovery Centre, Thornton's Beach, Cape Tribulation, Cooper Creek Croc Cruise and various interesting boardwalks. We were predominantly self-catering, so we can't comment on the quality of most of the cafes and restaurants in the area. We did enjoy morning coffees at the Daintree Fan Palm Farm, which also offers organic pies, organic wholefoods and organic fresh local produce. The one meal we had out was at The Beach House in Cape Tribulation, where we shared a generous serve of fish tacos. Some restaurants can get very busy in the middle of the day when tour groups stop for lunch. Also be aware that they mostly finish their lunch service at 2.00pm.

Diwan is an excellent area from which to explore Daintree NP. Close to Cow Bay and Thornton Beach, with the towering Thornton Peak looming ever present. Take a drive to Mason's Cafe for lunch and a dip in the waterhole. You cannot swim at the beaches due to crocs, heed the warnings! There are great walks contructed in the forest which are well worth doing.Supplies are basic cf. what you can buy in a large supermarket. Buy your supplies before you cross the river, in Mossman. If you are staying a few days, consider if you will need to cross the river repeatedly as there is a toll and it may be more economical to buy a week pass, depending on what you do. I spent 4 days as a solo traveller, after some reef snorkelling from Pt. Douglas. I spent the time exploring the area north of the river, up to Cape Tribulation. The beaches are breathtaking, even for an Aussie like me. Just the sounds of the forest, the birds, the frogs and insects an d the wind through the trees...divine. I felt so peaceful when I arrived home.

Lovely place to stay for a romantic retreat.

Lovely place to stay for a romantic retreat. The waterway is gorgeous as are the surrounding gardens. The bed was firm and comfortable. We went during the offseason and saw cassowaries regularly around the area. It was quite wet, but humid and hot whilst we were there. There were no flyscreens so we couldn't leave the windows open, which meant the place heated up so we think it requires some portable fans. It could also do with better internet connection, but perfect for those wishing to disconnect from civilisation and really enjoy nature. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to any couple who are after a peaceful and private trip away. The icecream shops are a huge highlight.

Couldn't fault it. We had perfect weather.

Couldn't fault it. We had perfect weather. Be mindful that no air conditioning and hot humid weather could potentially spoil your trip if tolerance is low. House is well equipped with ceiling fans. Personally had no issues but plan your trip wisely if really need the creature comforts of air con. Couldn't think of anywhere better to relax and forget about the outside world. Feeling blessed. Had alook around surrounding area however found ourselves just wanting to return to the house. Didnt eat out anywhere. Grabbed the food we liked from Mossman on way in and prepared in well equipped kitchen at the property.

Try everything in the area then come home to hammocks and views that take your breath away. Go for a swim under the stars, experience dawn over the canopy, enjoy Vaughn's hospitality (and guitar playing!),... Wow! Try the home grown exotic fruit ice-cream around the corner. Best ever. We found 3 days was enough to explore the area with beach and rainforest walks but longer would be better to just 'be' and relax. Next time at Coral Sea Views for sure!
