Really enjoyed doing the Gordon River Heritage Cruise, it was informative and so much wonderful things you wouldn't get to see if you didn't do it. The Captain and staff were lovely and it was a really relaxing day. Highly recommend visiting the Huon Pine Historic Mill and shops as well. The town itself is very small and seems to be run mostly by a few families. So not a lot of restaurant or cafe options. I found the Strahan Village buffet restaurant 42 Degrees that was touted as the gourmet option in town as very average for the price.

Strahan is worth visiting for the Gordon River Cruise and the play, The Ship That Never Was. There is a small nature walk to a small waterfall that is an easy walk. There is a small beach just outside of town as well. Dining options are limited, suggest View 42 buffet, reservations required.

Strahan was a quaint little town with not an awful lot to see and do, but what there is, is worth the visit. We had only the one full day in Strahan - for the river cruise (stayed in town for 2 nights): if we had the time again, we’d allow a second day for local sight-seeing and the train ride. We were exceptionally fortunate with the weather, making the day cruise truly memorable, including some absolutely beautiful scenery and a fascinating tour of the convict settlement on Sarah Island.
Unfortunately, the seafood buffet at ‘View 42 Degrees’ was fully booked out, so we’d advise phoning ahead for that!
We weren’t entirely sure if we’d visit Strahan as part of our Tasmania trip as it was a little ‘out of our way’: we are now glad that we made the effort!

We loved everything we did in Strahan - from staying in the King Suite in the Wilderness Lodge, to the World Heritage Cruise on the Gordon River, The Ship That Never Was play, Hogarth Falls and sunsets over the water on Beach Rd.
The locals were fanatastic too - do yourself a favour and go there !

We stayed 3 nights but I feel 4 would be better View 42 degrees is worth every cent everywhere else is terrible don't baulk on the boat tri
p it is one of those amazing experiences you never regret there is alot to do in this tiny town don't rush around Tassie you will miss too much ps Don't stay Big 4 and book all tours early Go to the Wall at Derwent Bridge to see a true artist we were with a wheelchair and everyone was great except Big 4
We stayed in cottage SARAH. It is shabby on the outside, clearly being restored, but clean and fresh inside. There is plenty of room. A full kitchen and laundry, new appliances and everything you need to make a meal, even an old barbecue outside. There was plenty of heating and hot water. It would be perfect for a family with young kids. The front lawn was full of bunnies and amusing lapwings. It’s located on the road to the golf course. Very quiet area but only a two minute drive to the Strahan waterfront.
Everything about the property, the staff, Jack and Thomas, were wonderful. The rooms were clean and full of charm but freshly renovated. We had an excellent complimentary breakfast and the highlight for me was they had "real soap" in the bathroom, NOT that stuff the others have in squeeze bottles. Would go back to Strahan just to visit Franklin Manor.
The location was excellent - right on the water. The Reception staff were extremely friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable about local attractions, amenities and places to eat. The hotel upgraded us to a King Studio for our anniversary. 100%, wholeheartedly, recommend this hotel - a wonderful boutique hotel. You will not be disappointed.
Well-priced, good location and all facilities were provided. We like to have access to a microwave and some places don't provide one. The Strahan Motel had 2 available in the laundry - which was also excellent being free of slot machines (we paid at reception to use them, and could have charged the cost to the room). Much better idea.
Very spacious room with veranda and covered car port.
Very nice hostess and host. Great restaurant over the road with great sunset. We really appreciate the owners doing everything to promote not just their property, but the local businesses and Tasmania. Well done to them!
Would book again in a heartbeat.
Super cool, the accommodation is located in a variety of cottages along main street. They were all very cute. Staff were lovely at check in and check out. Bed was really comfy and we enjoyed the spa. Location was great as everything in Strahan was close by and our view was the river.
Fantastic location in Strahan walking distance to main attractions and local supermarket
Very clean, neat and tidy.
Service was great
Spacious apartment for a family and basics cooking facilities with bbq and laundry facilities
Would definitely recommend and stay again!
Lovely little cottage tucked off the street, behind a small rainforest gully. Comfortable, everything we needed and close to the centre of Strahan. While Larissa (the owner) is interstate, both she and Lisa (the local lady) were super helpful and easy to contact.
Situated overlooking the water, we stayed twice; once in the studio and the second time in the house. They are both clean and inviting. walk to the pub and to the jetty the tour boat departs from.
The owners are lovely and friendly.
The cabins are larger than a standard hotel room. Very comfortable with 3 zones in an open plan . Kitchen/dinning, lounge / TV and bedroom, a large spacious bathroom takes up a quarter of the floor plan. Heating worked well.
Location is great. Beautiful vistas of the small Strahan Harbour set out in well laid out gardens and grounds. Includes a grassed children's play area and a small informative trail through the bush.
location of the park was lovely but we didn’t get the self contained cabins we thought we had booked on booking.com. Our cabins were not self contained and were in the backpackers section.
Very comfortable family hotel, safe (far from the main road) and quiet, bbq, kids playing area, bunnies to pet. Walking distance to a restaurant. Breakfast basket was very thoughtful.
