Andover has pubs and bars, supermarkets and plenty of places to eat. There are enjoyable walks up to the Ladies Walk where you can see across the town and also to Charlton Lakes where there is a play area for kids. Andover is also close to Basingstoke, Salisbury and Winchester.

It is a quiet town very convenient for visiting Winchester, Salisbury, the New Forest, Newbury, Whitchurch and Southampton. Anton Lakes local Natural Reserve gives a good opportunity to relax sitting on a bench and watching wildlife birds. Don't forget to visit the local Iron Age history museum and beautiful St.Mary's church.

A quiet town, without much to see.

A quiet town, without much to see. The Anton River canal near the old mill and the Anton lakes are the only places worth visiting, the river has ducks and swans as well. The town has supermarkets, and a train station and the distances are relatively easy to walk, even with luggage.

Like so many towns, trade has been forced out and many cheaper shops move in. In does have regular markets. A good spot to go out to visit but Andover itself is not so picturesque as it shoukd be. I nice chalk river runs through which has not been enhanced. Such a shame. Indians,Chinese Wetherspoons and other pubs available. Went to the Siam Orchid. Very nice and booking might be necessary.

We visited Andover as were were going to the BSB round at Thruxton. There are lots of place to eat in Andover we opted for an Indian called Chilies, it was empty so were a bit worried but it is one of the best curries we have had in a while. Staff very polite and attentive. Can thoroughly recommend it. The hotel, Jack Russell Fox, which is a Wetherspoons pub chain was excellent. Staff and food were what you would expect. The rooms were clean and perfectly adequate.

Excellent hotel for overnight stay , very near the A303. with a large car park that is easy to find if you follow the hotels directions. It is in the centre of Andover, a small market town with lots of history, so easy access to all the amenities. We had an attic room in the Stables which was lovely. Large , airy, very comfortable with the added bonus of a small table and two small armchairs. Nothing to fault. We didnt have breakfast so can't comment on the food

The room was lovely ,clean and comfortable. All staff were excellent. Lovely to be able to open a window to get some fresh air, also a window on a corridor was open allowing fresh air to circulate in the corridors. This is important to me as I no longer stay in some chain hotels wher you cannot open a window. Air from an air conditioning unit, is not fresh air, even though they try to tell you it is. Its a real plus to still have this in Wetherspoons hotels.

Extremely comfortable beds, a great shower (with a small bath) and a large room. Breakfast (full English + continental and fruit/yoghurt) was excellent with fantastic coffee. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Great location, right in the centre of Andover. Half of the ground floor is a Pizza Express and there are 3 pubs within a hundred metres of the hotel.

It was a self check in and the property were very prompt to assist us with all the queries. The location is at the heart of Andover and there are many restaurants & bars around. With a large pedestrian shopping street. Paid parking is also nearby. We stayed here because of our trip to the Peppa Pig park , and we loved our stay. Would repeat without hesitation.

The Jack Russell is a lovely country pub/hotel set in a beautiful location. The rooms are large and well equipped, staff were amazing, and everything is extremely dog-friendly (a very important point for us). Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with a great choice of options, many of them sourced from local produce. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Very pleasant warm and friendly staff. Only downside is the noise from the town at night. Revelry carries in the night air. I can’t praise the hotel enough. Lovely room in the stable block very well equipped.
