Good location at the centre of Oakham. Some bottled water provided - probably because it would have been impossible to fill the kettle from the tiny sink in the bathroom. The shower functioned.

I love the scenery, the wildlife, I'm a walker, so great walks, the town of oakham has everything u need, but what I like most is it's not commercialised, still a pretty little market town.i also used train & went to peterborough, the parking at the station was only £2.50 for the whole day. I had lunch one day at a lovely little cafe tucked in the corner of the market Square called Hungry Birds.

There was no breakfast available . I believe it has changed hands recently we had a warm welcome however the public areas the carpet on the stairs needs replacing the hotel just needs a general overhaul .. iIt was exactly what we wanted for the two nights we were there tho.
Availability of many interesting places to visit plus super cafes/ restaurant in the town .
We would be more than happy to stay there again .
Excellent location for Oakham and the nearby birdwatching centres. Staff were friendly and helpful; the refurbishment of the hotel has been carried out in a sympathetic and attractive fashion, and the whole place had a relaxed atmosphere. Food was very good (breakfast and dinner). Enclosed courtyard made a very attractive and comfortable sitting out area. Our room was comfortable with a good bed.
Fantastic location very close to Rutland Water and near to Oakham and all local sights. Lovely old building and public rooms were charming and characterful. Conservatory for breakfast was delightful. Breakfast was good and plentiful and service was very friendly. Bar area very cozy in the evening. Lovely outdoor seating in the attractive courtyard and lovely views of the countryside.
Very warm welcome from Bennie when we arrived. The food we had for dinner was really tasty, and served promptly, and with a smile. Our room was very warm and the bed very comfortable.Tea and coffee provided, and the use of a kettle as well as coffee maker. Bar area and dining area a little cold, but it was very cold outside! All in all we enjoyed our stay, and would stay again.
Fantastic view from the room and very comfortable bed.
The hotel was very clean and the restaurant was nicely decorated, again making the most of the views.
Rutland Water was very accessible for walks straight from the door.
Nice decoration and great to have tea, coffee, water and bath robes in the room.
The whole experience was great: good value, very friendly staff, and the room was so quiet and had all we needed. The hotel also served as a great jumping off place to visit Rutland Water and other nearby attractions. We would definitely stay there again as we did to visit family nearby.
it is being improved/renovated very well under new owners. the lounge/bar area has been upgraded very tastefully and has a cosy log fire and the dining room is well presented and has lots of character. Good free car park close by.
Lovely welcoming reception area.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast one of the best we have had in a hotel and evening meal was lovely too. We would recommend The White Lion Inn to anyone who asks about hotels in the area.
Property perfect for visiting Oakham School. Very clean. Walkable to many nice restaurants as well as the school and sports fields. Had breakfast available in the mornings. Breakfast staff was very personable. It was comfortable.
Well located near a park and grocery stores. 10 minute walk into the centre of Oakham. The two bedrooms with double beds were separated by the living floor so provided privacy (we didn't use the other two top floor bedrooms).
I like the hotel its my first choice when in Rutland area, the staff are great, pleasant, I had a first class steak cooked to perfection . The lady taking breakfast orders always seems happy and can't do enough.
This is a delightful apartment to launch your Oakham visit. Everything is a quick walk out the door. The apartment was quiet at night and very comfortable. Having the extra space made our visit terriffic.
Large comfortable bed and located centrally in Oakham. With good access to the surrounding area and close to Rutland Water. The assigned parking space at the car park was also very helpful.
Cute room , clean and comfortable. Good location for visiting Rutland Water however there isn’t even a shop in the village, not a fault of the hotel but worth noting. Friendly staff.
I have stayed here a few times now. This time to sail locally; fabulous food, smiling/welcoming staff. Room very comfortable. No hesitation in staying again when in the area.
Beautiful location overlooking Rutland Water with lovely walks from the hotel garden. The staff were friendly and attentive and we enjoyed a lovely dinner while we were there.
