Situated above its own terraced gardens, The Glenburn Hotel is a Victorian sandstone building which offers panoramic views across Rothesay Bay to the Cowal Peninsula.

Lovely staff and great hospitality.
Food is excellent and all meals are catered for should you wish. (The hotel has a restaurant and also serves customers who are not overnight guests.)
The southern tip of the island has a section of the West Island Way - a very scenic route always much enjoyed whenever we visit. Today we saw dolphins, gannets, a grey seal, a roe deer, and wildflowers all along the route.
The hotel is well-situated for this walk, the beach/bay, and the community of Kilchattan, and is also on the bus route.

I recently visited Rothesay on the Isle of Bute and had a pleasant stay. The journey from Glasgow was seamless, with convenient train and ferry connections.
Rothesay is wonderfully quiet, offering excellent views of the bay that make for a peaceful retreat. While there aren't any beaches, the scenery is beautiful. One downside was that many restaurants were closed during my visit, and there weren't many tourists around.
Overall, Rothesay is a tranquil destination perfect for those seeking a serene escape with stunning bay views.

Rothesay is a beautifal town located on the Isle of Bute.
Rothesay is a beautifal town located on the Isle of Bute. There is plenty to do over a few days. We rented e-bikes and checked out the whole island, from Kilchatten Bay to Ettrick Bay and the town of Rothesay itself. The castle is worth a visit, and if you're lucky you can spot HMS Hoods Anchor just north of the town. Food options are somewhat scarce on the island, pub grub and takeaways are the only things available (there is Bute Yard which hosts pop up kitchens - wholly recommend this place, but I think they operate seasonally).

Rothesay is simply somewhere to chill for few days, yes it's quiet, but if you're of a certain age, this is perfect. Plenty nice pubs/restaurants to try. Isle of Bute has so many hidden treasures. I recommend the Tour bus, nice walks to Lighthouse, Ardbeg, where there is an amazing American diner, Kerrycroy and Ascog are lovely villages to visit too. U can also now take a speedboat ride

I've been coming to Rothesay since 1977, I have a love that will endure forever with Bute. I suppose only thing they need is a Cinema/theatre. Once the Pavillion is fully renovated will definitely attract more visitors

Truly excellent place to visit especially for history buffs, with midget submarines in WW2, to Scotlands first flight by a blacksmith no less, to all the hidden gems of coastline, views. Mount Steuart would take several days to fully explore but a stunning georgian house. With some wonderful cafe's throughout the island, some even more amazing hostelries to dine at It's a place that you will want to return to time and time again.
The location was fab, so central for everything. Apartment was spotless and very spacious with windows you could open for lovely Rothesay air. Appliances seemed like brand new and were very easy to work! Bathroom and kitchen were exceptional and finished to a very high standard. I left my hat in the apartment and contacted owner to ask if it had been found and it was sent to me a couple of days later. Such a kind thing to do and I was so grateful. Exceptional service and accommodation!
Room was very comfortable and supplied with tea/coffee and biscuits, slippers are also supplied,we had booked the room with the balcony but it is in fact a large private terrace with plenty seats and a table with amazing views, the ferry terminal is 2 minutes walk away as is the town centre, the owners David and Amy are lovely and the freshly cooked breakfast in the morning was delicious using fresh local produce, highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.
Everything. The location was perfect, right across from the water, and within walking distance to Rothesay. The house itself is roomy and has everything you could want. The grounds are spacious and Carolynn and John encourage you to play on the front lawn with the various garden games they provide in the shed next to the house. They are very kind and provide little touches such as milk and biscuits, shampoo and conditioner and even disposable barbecues.
everything! location within walking distance of the town and easy access to the countryside and costal paths, the views from the property overlooking the harbour/town, the property is beautifully maintained and provides you with a warm family welcome, the rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and provide great facilities. The property is the home of a wonderful family who make you feel special and welcomed to the Isle of Bute.
Karen and David were very friendly. Best thing was the view. So many good books and a piano. The coach house was very spacious, and island life was great too. Only a population of 7,500. I liked the small museum in Rothesay and my wife liked the factory shop at Bute fabrics. As the previous couple left, the husband whispered to me, 'You're entering the danger zone. Hide your credit card.' He was right.
Beautiful House in Stunning Location. So relaxing watching the ferry coming and going at the picture window.
House was Immaculate and the owners have paid attention to every detail with lots of extras.
Didn't want to leave had an amazing holiday the Best accommodation I have been to in Rothesay by far.
First Class and more.
Owners were so helpful and friendly. Will be back soon 😁😍
I especially liked owner of Hotel/Guest House, Jane, was so informative, very attentative to all my needs(don't mention WiFi 🤣🤣🤣) Breakfast served efficiently every morning, with help from Caroline. Not forgetting friend I made in alfie the dog. I would definitely recommend the Ardyne to anyone looking for quality for their money. Thank you again Jane xx
The room was excellent, a frankly stunning view over the bay, and the staff were really attentive and friendly. The location, as well as being picturesque, is about 10-15 minutes walk from Rothesay pier. Breakfast offered a good amount of options, and the hotel allowed you to bring in your own food in the evening, which was very handy.
The hotel was ideal for our visit to Rothesay , really central. The room’s were spotless, comfortable and very cosy . we had a great view of Rothesay bay from our rooms . The staff were very friendly and all very helpful . The breakfast was lovely the waitress and the chef went out of there way to accommodate us .
The owner at Cadillac Customz is a person you HAVE to meet when visiting Rothesay, and the hotel is an unmissable spot. We had filming crew staying at the hotel, whilst we were shooting on the island and they had the best time chatting to the owner and snoozing at this unique spot.
Extremely friendly couldnt do enough to help. Stayed in 2 rooms everywhere was spotless. Would recomend. Ill be going back after feb. Best to call direct and not through booking.com or else use hotels own website. I was delighted with my stay 5 stars
Central location, room was beautiful overlooking the bay, Kristine and her staff were excellent. We would definitely recommend it and stay again if/when we are back in Rothesay.
The staff were by far the best part but we also loved the charming aesthetic, great food from the restaurant, amazing sea views, and location close to downtown Rothesay!
Great location right in the centre of Rothesay. Comfy and clean room with great views over the gardens and the firth of Clyde. Helpful and friendly staff.
