Great hotel. Two issues, one was the key card wouldn’t work on a few occasions meaning I had to go back to reception and get a new card cut each time. (I kept it away from my phone so this was not the issue)
Found the menu quite limited if you only wanted a light bite. Ended up going out for dinner both nights as I didn’t want a full meal.
However, I wouldn’t let this put me off staying again. The room was exceptionally clean, had everything I needed and the bed super comfy! Staff were lovely.

Nicely decorated public areas and the room, which was modern and tastefully designed. Ordered evening meals in the bar area which we enjoyed. Breakfast on the first day was lovely with everything available, but not so good on day 2.
Staff were lovely and helpful and we would stay again but please get more staff in the kitchen and dining room.

The reception staff (Cathy) was unhelpful and bordering on rude. The barman told my adult son that my husband and I were "stupid" as we didn't know the currency and had to ask if we had given the correct coins. There was no early check-in available and no secure place to put your luggage while you waited for your room. When we walked to our room we passed a lot of dirty dishes left on the stairs. The room was tired with chipped paint on the walls and cupboards. Breakfast was okay but don't expect all the hot food options available at one time. The water pressure was fantastic and the grounds were beautiful. The cab company recommended by the hotel was fantastic.BarbaraCanada - 10Scored 10

Sawbridgeworth is lovely, as I have lived there previously. Went to Bishops Stortford, dont go there! The Rising Sun is fantastic|!!!!! The Indian Resturant across the road is over priced and the service is extremly slow, stay away.

The owner had provided a welcome pack of milk, bread, cheese, butter, fruit, wine, etc. which was fantastic. There are some country walks from the cottage or into Sawbridgeworth. A perfect place to stay while visiting family in Bishop's Stortford. Would definitely stay here again.
