Nice estate grounds against a scenic backdrop. Helpful staff and good food. While the decor is exactly what I expected for a rustic countryside property, the bathrooms could do with an update.

Fab dog friendly hotel in a great location in central Pitlochry. Our puppy was welcomed by all the staff and they were really thoughtful about where our room was located. It was her first time staying in a hotel and we were relieved to be in a corner of the hotel so we didn't worry about disturbing people.
The bar area is big so lots of dog friendly eating space too. Lovely food and staff. We were directly above the bar but the live music was barely audible upstairs which was great.
The room was spacious and bathroom was small but clean. The floor of the shower was non slip which was fantastic as I often get nervous in slippy hotel showers (a small point but super important to me). Good cupboard space too.
All in all, a fab visit.

This was a clean and well run establishment which is a credit to the hard work of the owner. The breakfast was excellent and it seemed to be freshly made, not like the usual hard offerings from under heat lamps. Breakfast waitresses were helpful and sociable, obviously well trained. Some so-called 4-star hotels should take note.

Nestled amongst the mountains with paths and tracks leading all over what’s not to like? Sadly, the general facilities here have gone. No shop for example. One place did have a sign out for coffee, but there could be an opportunity here for someone.
Worth climbing up the Cateran Trail heading south to get stunning views looking down on the village.
Also visit the stone circle, old bridge and the church. Just soak up the atmosphere!

Cannot fault the scenery but you must be a keen hiker or golfer to spend time here. You are miles from anywhere and only one main road, the A93, which is awful. Days out mean a challenging drive on roads with steep climbs, sharp bends and constant gear changes. This can be tiring and a little frightening at night. Three nights was one too many here.

Beautiful peaceful setting, some lovely period features and very friendly staff, but needs a bit of work done on it. We had moveable heaters in our room, but still little chilly. Bathrooms could be doing with upgrade.

A great area for walkers or hikers & bird watchers & if you like peace & quiet.
The Wifi was not great where stayed. In these modern times most people need Wifi to keep in touch with family & friends.
Ballater is a nice place to visit & some good walks & well sign posted.
Nice cafes & shops there too. You need a car together there. Dunked is also a pretty place e to visit.

Go when the snow is there.
Go when the snow is there. We managed to get over the summit in fairly heavy now without 4WD but it was a bit dicy. If it is snowing and windy also the drfiting can cause a whiteout at a moments notice.
Glenshee is a worthwhile stopover while jouneying to/from the north.
Fantastic facilities, charming house, beautiful surroundings and very helpful and friendly hosts making you feel at home.
The house is charming, has two lounge areas with real fireplaces, well equipped kitchen, big dinning area and an outdoor area. Place was nice and warm despite freezing temperatures outside.
The area is perfect for hikes and only a few minutes from the Glenshee ski centre.
Tim and Helen are wonderful hosts with plenty of knowledge and tips about things to do in the area.
The Hotel was amazing, we stayed for 6 nights and was very well looked after, our room was fabulous and was serviced every day, very clean.
The staff are very friendly and went out of they way to make sure you enjoyed your stay and felt relaxed.
Thank you for your kindness you showed my husband after his recent stroke, unfortunately he suffered another one on our way home, so this didn't give us a great end to our holiday, but as soon as he recovers we will be back.
The location was absolutely breathtaking. The castle hotel was beautiful as well with the old world feel. The staff was the best and took wonderful care of us making us feel at home. The dining options were sumptuous - definitely 5 star. Lots of fascinating history regarding the property too. The most relaxing vacation we've ever enjoyed. We look forward to returning on the near future.
The castle was everything we could have hoped for. The location was amazing, with views of the glens in all directions. The staff were most welcoming and so accommodating. We had supper and breakfast and it was out of this world, so so good. Also enjoyed the evening tasting a number of wonderful whiskies. Would definitely recommend staying here.
This is a fantastic hotel tucked away in a spectacular and remote location. There were a couple of roaring fires in log burners in the spacious entrance hall cum lounge which were very welcome on a damp day, staff were helpful, our room was quirky and individual but very cosy, food was excellent. A wonderful place to stay.
Amazing property at the Scottish highland. The shared bathroom is very clean and the rooms are spacious. The location is ideal if you’re planning to ski in Glenshee. You can rent the ski gear from the lodge owner too with a cheaper price compared to the ski center. Highly recommended
Friendly staff hell bent on doing everything to help you make the most of your stay. Very warm and comfortable the food was first rate and the hotel was spotlessly clean. Stunning views in a first rate holiday setting, the perfect relaxing get away Looking forward to going back.
Breakfast and Dinner was very good with lots of choice in the menus. The location was fantastic as the hotel was originally the local lairds castle and tucked away amongst the hills with its "fairy tale turrets" adding to the attractiveness of the scene.
Everything was really good, the location was remote but amazing views. Loved the feel of the hotel, especially coming back to the fire going after a cold day outside and playing billiards. The food was great and the staff friendly and attentive.
Fantastic location with Highland walks on your doorstep. There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere at the hotel and communication in advance was excellent. One of the bedrooms was great, the other a little tired.
Beautiful hotel room and very comfy bed, quiet location. Very dog friendly, there was a bowl, treats and poo bags for the dog in the room and a nice selection of tea and coffee for us. Food was really nice.
The hotel is a lovely old building with lots of character, it was a nice treat form the usual hotels, it would have been nice to have stayed for longer to truly appreciate the experience. Great breakfast.
This hotel is located way off the road in a remote area, no road noise or city life to spoil the experience. Dinner and breakfast were included in the cost and were outstanding. Staff was very attentive
really good value for money, warm showers, basic but comfy rooms, very well equipped kitchen and close to glenshee skiing. Host was friendly and readily available, had an overall good stay
Location was very nice, quiet and relaxing. Hotel staff were nice, friendly and trying their hardest. Bed was comfortable and the food was well made & delicious.
