This small family-owned and run country hotel in North Suffolk was once a rural public house; today, it has been sympathetically renovated and still retains its historic charm and character.

Beautiful old 16th century cottage with charm and character. Very relaxing with hot tub & sauna. Comfortable beds and sofa.Very well equipped kitchen and fabulous welcome basket of goodies.
Lots of extras to make it special and a real home from home comfortable experience, e.g., coffee machine & pods, pizza oven, hair dryers, hot water bottles, fans, TV streaming service, and excellent WIFI.
Owners and team very friendly and helpful, definitely recommend. We'll be back!
Overall ,excellent. Breakfast was outstanding. Sadly we did not try the dinner menu which looked very good as we were invited out . The restaurant has numerous awards for its food. The restaurant is shut Sunday night. Quiet and very comfortable rooms.

This is more a rural area with towns and villages nearby.
This is more a rural area with towns and villages nearby. Very close to the Norfolk border with the market town of Diss only a few miles away. Stowmarket and Ipswitch are also not that far. There are castles and the coast not that far either.
The White Horse Pub on the A140 is highly recommended. The food was fantastic and very friendly staff too.
Great place to visit and use as a base to travel out from for a weekend in Suffolk or Norfolk. You do need a car though to get around.

We did not venture into Yaxley itself but did visit Diss and Eye: both picturesque market towns with character. We used the hotel as a base to visit Grime's Graves, and Ely with its magnificent cathedral. Also stopped and watched the aircraft at Lakenheath and got an impromptu fly past of two F15s.
Jake and Katy were great hosts and helped us with small things like freezing our freezer blocks to take with us each day. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant on our first evening which was a special treat. The property is easy to find as it's located right on the A140 Norwich to Ipswich road. It gave us a really good central base for exploring Suffolk attractions. Our 6 breakfasts were consistently delicious. Plenty of off road parking. There is also a lovely garden area to sit in with picnic tables.
The breakfast here was absolutely superb. You choose from a list the day before and your order is cooked and prepared for the time you specify. The quality of the breakfast was one of the best we've had.
The hotel is in a good location on a main A road (A140) near the Norfolk border and close to lots of places of interest. There are also good eating places nearby if the hotel restaurant is fully booked.
All the staff we met were really helpful and friendly.
A lovely family run hotel with extremely welcoming and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for John, Dee and family. The location was peaceful and was a great base to explore surrounding countryside, the coast and even a day trip to Cambridge which is about an hour away. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and we also had an excellent evening meal in the restaurant.
The staff were exceptional and knowledgeable - treating us and our dog as if we were the only guests. Nothing was too much trouble. The food - much of which is homegrown organically in the gardens is delicious. They catered perfectly for vegans and vegetarians. The hotel itself is comfortable, clean, welcoming and very well connected for the surrounding area.
