Historically important city, with extensive archaeological treasures and musea. Good shopping and ample choice of restaurants of different level in the old inner city.
The 3* property, advertised as "Savona Casa Vacanze vicino Mare" located in an old apartment, furnished 1960 style, located in a grim neighbourhood smelled like it had been smoked. It had no elevator, or video surveillance and was located in a poor neighbourhood, featuring low grade/fastfood places. No nearby parking facilities. No reception but a mobile phone appointment to hand over the keys by a person speaking minimal English, no Italian (Ukrainian) demanding a Euro 100,= caution, as previous guests had caused serious damage to the interior. We refused to take this dismal property, lost our prepaid fee and booked into Porto Antico Best Western hotel instead. Shame on Booking.com to list this dump !

I wouldn't specifically choose to go to Savona, but this was necessary for 1 night as we needed to embark a cruise ship. The port area had many options for restaurants. Believe it or not, the sidewalk, souvenier vendors close to the ships, had cheaper prices than the shops further away from the ship. We walked around, found a nice restaurant and managed to find vibrant nightlife.

Savona is not the most attractive location on the Ligurian coast. It has some historical interest in the house of Columbus etc, we chose it as was convenient for visiting family in Piemonte whilst spending some time on the beach. The hotel Mare is absolutely fantastic this is the main reason we stayed in Savona.

Very good help at the reception even for our very late arrival. Great recommendations for restaurants to eat near the hotel. Got the bus to the center of town and walked around, although it was raining there is still plenty to visit and lots of little cafes.
The hotel is a little dated but still comfortable.

Savona town offers a good mixed experience of sea and town, with convenient train links to Genova, Milano, Turin and France.
It is very easy to get around Savona.
Avoid Idea Hotel Plus.

We didn't know that Savona was an industrial town.
We didn't know that Savona was an industrial town. We should have booked Rapallo!! We are on a vacation drive around the Riviera's of Italy, France and Spain. Savona is pleasant enough but either south of Genoa or west of Savona are beautiful seaside iconic Italian charm and vistas. We booked without knowing the area. It was still a good 5 days but only as a base or you have another need to be in the city. The Castle was impressive, the Cistine Church looked great but is being renovated (closed). A few nice streets with restaurants and shops. Parking was easy. No one told us - if there is a white line - Free. Blue is pay - find the machine and display the ticket. Yellow marking - local with permit. If I were travelling for same reasons I would go to Rapallo
The unusual design of rooms with blue lighting, comfortable bed, tasty breakfast with a variety of all sorts of pastries (croissants, cookies, pies with cream and chocolate, etc.) on the summer terrace with a sea view (in fact on the beach). In the evening you can visit a sushi bar (fresh and tasty).
Beach with chaise lounges. A small beautiful swimming pool. Polite and friendly staff.
Parking in front of the hotel (several spots) and a big parking at the hotel side. The bus stop just in front of the hotel (you can go to the city center).
The stay at Central Savona was very pleasant. Even it is situated in an historical palace, the apartment was totally renovated. We were impressed on how clean it was. The bed was super comfortable. The host served a delicious italian breakfast. The brioches and la focaccia came fresh from a local confectionary. The lady was very kind and very keen to learn if there was something to improve in the services. We replied nothing. We really enjoyed our stay. Will come back for sure.
Amazing view from the window. Appartement is nice, new and clean. It has a dishwasher and a washing machine which is very handy. Also has a nice tv with a smart tv function. All the attractions like beach, city center and bunch of restaurants are in 5-10 minute walk
I would definitely recommend it for a group of people, especially if you plan to stay for several days. Probably the best quality-price ratio I have seen in Savona or any other coastline city in Italy
Everything what you can expected it is inside. Well equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, blender etc.), and rooms which was actually bigger than it seemed on photos (large tv set, fan in bedroom, comfortable beds). Ideal location for Savona (close to public beach, centre, fortress, park etc.). Apartament on the first floor, no problem with wifi. Valentino was very helpful and kind.
staff, italian style smiles. super nice staff, comprehensive and helpful. covid measures are well in place, no worries. parking (i.e. motorbike) is right in front of the hotel and safe. rooms with balcony or ground floor shared terrace, high ceilings. bathroom and room are ok for that standard, no frills. good and practical stop before taking the ferry.
The view was fantastic, the bed super comfy, the check in process effortless, and Paolo was the nicest host we could have asked for. We also ate dinner at their restaurant--whether or not you do this, it's definitely worth stopping by for one of their fantastic deserts.
If we ever come back through Savona, we will definitely stay here again!
Beautiful hotel right on the beach in Savona. We spend only 1 night here waiting to board our Costa Firenze cruise. Room was great and very clean, breakfast was full of variety and delicious, lounge bar with beautiful view towards the sea, they have a sushi restaurant and parking. All was great, thank you!
Everything! Location near by the sea. Staff was super friendly! They gave us an option to choose a room, earlier check-in. Breakfast was good. It was definitely a nice stay. I had an impression that is family owned hotel and we really could feel like at home.
Location is the best - near Lidl and Supermercato close to the beach and more calm area of Savona. The owner was really available for the guests in case of any needs - definitely recommended this place for vacation stay at Savona.
The apartment had everything anyone visiting Savona could possibly need...king size bed...large terrace...full kitchen...many restaurants nearby...easy walk to cruise terminal...very accommodating hosts... would stay there again
The hotel's location was convenient.
The staff members were friendly.
The common areas of the hotel were well-maintained, visually appealing.
The room I stayed in was ok furnished.
Breakfast was amazing as was the accommodation. A bit further out from the centre of Savona but there is a bus that takes you in and it is easy to use.
