It is one of the first hostels right by the pier, so you don't have to walk far. The owners were very friendly and the young woman spoke english very well. Our room with enclosed bathroom had a functioning a/c and mosquito nets for the windows.
The room was very clean and the owner allowed us to fill our water bottles in the restaurant.

The hosts were lovely. Easy check in and ready to organise everything to get us back on the boat including drop off and something for lunch. The room itself, it is what it is! Did the trick for a sleepover.

Excellent!! They were waiting at the pier to pick everyone up from the slowboat free transfer to hotel . And brought us back the next morning quite early, so there were still enough seats to choose from. Restaurant at same location, lunch for takeaway available. And the view is absolutely stunning!! The most beautiful cup of coffee I ever had! Room is spacious, airco and fan, beds are good and the bathroom clean
You must read the history of Lao and that area. In the past was quite rough. A friend described it as ‘narco sh*thole’. If you are a one night tourist, are polite, stick to your normal tourist routine it seems quaint and harmless. Most local people are friendly and helpful despite the history, and current young party tourists and others. Depends on the day. Almost no one stays two nights.

Compulsory stop off location for slow boat trip to Luang...
Compulsory stop off location for slow boat trip to Luang Prabang. The town has poor food options, high levels of plastic pollution and locals burning their rubbish, drug dealers openly offering their wares and skittish dogs in the streets.
I'm sure there are some positives about Pak Beng but I didn't see any. Get yourself a good night's sleep and get out of there.. Luang Prabang awaits; a much nicer place to be.

Most people just stay the one night whilst heading down river to Luang Prabang... On the last 3 occasions I have stayed two nights, and find it a great place to relax and watch the river (and the elephants) and all the other travellers rushing off to catch the next boat
