Portland is a walkable city.
Portland is a walkable city. Too many wonderful restaurants for one trip!
My favorites from this trip: Fore Street Restaurant, Honey Paw, and Jing Yan. My husband loved Bar Futo and the bar at Via Vecchia.

We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine.
We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine. We usually stop at the Kittery Trading Post along our drive. In Portland we like to take in historical homes and sites like the Victorian Mansion or the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow home. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in the waterfront area. One of our favorites is the Ri' Ra' where I typically enjoy a Guinness with the fish and chips.

My work in Portland shows me a diverse striving community that is trying to care for its citizens. That diversity is revealed through exploring the shops underneath and around the "Hopeful" sculpture/sign on Forest Ave.

Best seafood ever.
Best seafood ever. Very nice restaurants and bars and excellent, friendly service in all places. Nice little interior or similar shops. Some more or less interesting galleries, interesting Arts Museum. But two full days are enough for visiting downtown Portland.
Lovely hiking trails at about 30 minutes from the town.
Great location, right in downtown Portland. Beautiful little apartment with a brilliantly stocked bathroom and kitchen which included everything I needed for a three week stay. Lovely, comfortable bed and lots of storage space through the apartment as well. Low ceilings may be an issue for anyone over 6ft.
The apartment itself was cute and cosy - but multiple issues with Vacasa management company means I would avoid ever returning.
The front entrance of the hotel was a bit difficult to find. No breakfast or a complimentary snack/drink. The room and walkway had a mold smell. The bedding was a bit dirty. The vending machine was out of order and it appeared that there was only one vending machine. The location was a bit further out of downtown Portland for the price. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was not good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
This is an old Ramada, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioner was strong. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff were exceptionally nice in a sincere sort of way. The bar was also cute and a nice place to stop in before walking to the room at night. It's an old roadside Ramada a few miles from downtown. I found it to be very comfortable.
This was a great find. A comfortable alternative to large hotels and overpriced Airbnbs. This was perfectly located in Munjoy where it was easy to access the eastern prom and downtown. We enjoyed great coffee on the courtyard patio in the morning. The only regret is we kept missing the times the observatory was open, which is directly next door.
very quiet, clean, and dog friendly! the rooms were very welcoming and so clean. the property was beautiful, cozy and welcoming. it is about a 10 minute walk to old port which was perfect for us- we wanted to be away from the craziness of the downtown night life and this was perfect. I had so much fun and we will definitely return with our pup!
The room was beautiful (but definitely the wrong one!! Read on) and the staff very friendly (though not good at certain things, Read on).
The location of the hotel are fantastic and it is beautiful; however, our experience was bad. Read on.
Hotel is ideally located near the Portland Maine Airport and is very clean. Once I arrived, check in was quick and easy despite a visible shortage of staff. I had no issues after my check in. Overall, everything was ok.
Very nice hotel right downtown in the historic port area. Great for walking around downtown Portland. Notably comfortable beds to sleep in and plenty of outlets for charging your devices.
Hotel was in a good location; it was not too far to walk to Old Port. Staff was friendly. Snack bar was good for late-night treats. ;) We didn't eat the breakfast but it looked decent.
Well located for walking within the Old Port area. The hotel provides many amenities making it a relaxing experience for guests. Excellent customer service and friendly staff.
very central located hotel. Its quite old but i thought value for price was still good. I would recommend it as long as you are not looking for high luxury
