Quincy is located in a beautiful mountainous area untouched by fires. It is still green there. A ton of hiking, fishing, hunting, opportunities. When I was there in Mid September, they had a Jazz festival going on.

The check-in staff was very nice and friendly.
The check-in staff was very nice and friendly. We had some casual conversation. The location is very convenient to local points of interest - Lake Tahoe and Lassen Volcanic National Park were where we visited this time. I accidentally left my Apple watch in the room and didn't realize until we were way too far to return. When I called the front desk for help, they were very pleasant and helpful. Once they found the watch, they were nice enough to offer me to help of sending the watch to my home address after knowing I wasn't able to drive back. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the local folks running the business. Definitely plan to return next time!

It's a nice little town, especially at this time of year. You can get out of the heat down in the valley. I actually had to wear long pants most days. The downtown is small and easily walkable, although parking might be an issue, especially if you don't like parallel parking.
All three of the local restaurants I ate at were great. Pangea is an offbeat sandwich/burger/etc. joint with some New Age/Asian influences. Jeffery's Pub & Grill is pretty much exactly what it sounds like; their pulled pork sandwich was great. Patti's Morning Thunder was delicious and a good value with lots of customization options.
Plumas County Museum is also more or less in downtown, one street south of the courthouse. It has some considerable displays and information on the Chinese influence on the region, a large Native American display section, and behind the main museum is a historic house with some lovely gardens. It does have a $2 admission fee, but it is more than worth it.
