The minaret inside the hotel is a massive highlight, possibly one of the best views of Khiva from outside of the old walled town. A spectacular view at sunset and all from within the hotel.
For the price we paid, which may have a been a bargain last minute (but still only slightly more than we have been paying on average), we haven’t had a better stay in three weeks in Uzbekistan.
Breakfast was fantastic with a full buffet of fruit, cold meats, yoghurt and cooked food, plus freshly cooked eggs and even a coffee machine.
Two members of staff in particular were great! Mensura (may have spelt this wrong) and another young man, whose English was fantastic, were both brilliant and were always willing to help. Both deserve a special thanks.

Really kind host Ulughbek who spoke excellent English.
Recommended some good restaurants. Arranged a taxi from Urgench and to Khiva train station at not a ridiculous cost. Also assisted with us using public transport and allowed us to take our own food from the supermarket up to his rooftop to enjoy the sunset.

A lovely hotel in an old, traditional building that has been nicely converted and restored. All the rooms open onto a courtyard where we had breakfast, and could sit and relax. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was individually served, and plentiful. The room was large and well equipped, with a comfortable bed. The room was very quiet, despite being near a busy road. The old town of Khiva is around 5 minutes steady walk from the hotel, so the location was excellent.

A small cultural, architectural, historical and culinary gem.
Best food - The Terrasse and The Old terrasse restaurants (card payment available), also the restaurant next to the tallest tower in the city.
All distances in the city are walking. Most merchants and restaurants accept cash only payments.
You may pay at the bazars/street shops in local currency or in dollars. If you need foreigh currency exchange you can do it directly in your hotel reception (even a taxi drivers ;).
A day trip outside of the city to some of the remaining old castles (dating from 4-3 century BC and later on on the Silk Road) is a must.

English and Russian languages are spoken widely.

Khiva is beautiful medieval town We walked thru it several times. It is not big so you do not need transportation to explore it. There is several restaurants in the town, We liked one open air terrace and ate our dinners there. The food was very good there. We are not a young couple but I understand that there is a lot to do there for all ages

The old town is just like a scene in the movie and I am feeling like I am part of a role there. Despite that I knew it experienced restoration, the work was quite well done and exceeded my expectation.
Looking back at the photos I took at dusk when all lights were on, I was wondering the one thousand and one nights' story stemmed from here.
Nowadays when most parts of the world are flooded with tourists, the popular restaurants become impatient and arrogant. I really like the most popular restaurant in old town Khiva (assume everyone knows which one i am talking about) where all waiters are super friendly and food remain exceptional.

I visited Khiva in wintertime, and it was perfect.
I visited Khiva in wintertime, and it was perfect. Cold, but no rain or snow and most of the time, sunny. Enough good restaurants were still open. And importantly, while there were quite a few tourists, it wasn't crowded at all (but it is easy to imagine that in the height of the tourist season, it becomes way too crowded). Too many tourist stalls, but if you walk around early in the morning or at night you have much of the town to yourself (again, in winter time!). And then, it feels as if you're in some other world, perhaps a visitor to Tatooine. When you're there, take a day to visit the desert castles, in particular Ayaz Kala is quite a sight (in summer, make sure to avoid the midday heat, you have to walk and climb a bit).
