This is a fantastic city -- creative and vibrant with plenty of big city fun with a small town vibe! Eugene has a fantastic food scene and great book and music shopping and museums. My favourite is the Whiteaker Neighborhood; lots of fantastic dining options and live music plus parks and the beautiful river path. It is a great place to walk and cycle.

Eugene is a college town, and we chose to go on road trips instead of staying in town. If there are games going on, it can be quite hectic to try and get around the city. There are covered bridges to go and see in Cottage Grove, as well as waterfalls and other hikes to partake in in Cottage Grove and outside Eugene.

I will never go to Eugene in the winter again! So cold!
I will never go to Eugene in the winter again! So cold! And the rain never stopped for our entire stay. And the day we had planned to leave, I-5 was expected to be closed over Siskiyou Pass due to snow and high winds. We left a day early and drove home via the long route, over to 101 and then down the coast. Temp never got above 45 degrees and the rain never stopped, but at least we didn't have to deal with snow. If you need to go to Oregon, schedule it for the summer when it is actually quite pleasant.

It was good to tour the campus although we were there for a wedding. It was sad to see the homeless on the streets. Other than football and sports, I don't know what anyone would do on vacation. A trip to the winery was fun. Eugene is not for us.

Classic college town with a clear progressive and liberal tilt.
The scent of pot being smoke was not uncommon.
The city streets were CLEAN and there were very walkable sidewalks on most city streets.
I saw signs of a concerted public assistance to homeless populations rather than the constant conflict between the haves and the have-nots in Seattle.
I only spent one day but I would have liked to spend more to explore its nooks and crannies.

My family always loves staying in Eugene.
My family always loves staying in Eugene. We travel to the Ducks football games around three to four times at least every season. My family enjoys the location of the Hayward Inn because it is the perfect location for sporting events and amazing restaurants. We love the walk to Autzen Stadium from the hotel as well.
The people: Lorelei in particular was a super host with her super attentive and caring attitude. She welcome us and as ee observed each person intentionally for breakfast. Ensured our son and us found the pencils and drawings for example and more. To be fair this also extended to the reception staff and cleaning crew but Lolerei definitely stood out for us.
The hotel: big room, clean and comfortable bed. Great facilities with fridge. Microwave and coffee maker and good working and rest área.
The location was charming, the staff very kind and helpful. The cookies and wine in the evening were delicious, as were the warm breakfast scones, and the landscaping on the grounds was gorgeous. Our room was clean and comfortable, the beds and bedding were very good. Our last two stays in Eugene were at more chaotic locations, near busy streets and with sketchy parking lots, so this felt like an oasis of calm.
There was nothing to like about this hotel. The outside is rotting away, the hallway smell of urine, the room was also had a bad odor, stains on bedsheets, there were about five people smoking pot just outside the entry door. The restaurant, Elmers, closed down the day before we got there due to the high crime rate in that area…. My opinion is that this hotel is the nesting ground for this high crime rate..
I travel to Eugene often to visit family. My experience with other hotels in Eugene has ben that, being a college town, the hotels are well used and not the cleanest. The Hampton Inn on the other hand is very clean, and the stafff is very polite. I will be staying there again when I visit family in West Eugene.
We were in Eugene for the National Track Championships and booked last minute as we were unhappy with our AirB&B. The property is simple but newly remodeled and clean. Good sound proofing from traffic, expensive because of the track event in town but nice stay. full sized fridge and microwave in room.
The inn was lovely when we went over for breakfast. The breakfast room was really nice and the girl serving was really lovely. The breakfast was yummy, a really tasty quesadilla and homemade scone and fruit. The area was really quiet so that was great.
it was fabulously convenient. There was a breakfast area and the swimming pool and washing facilities were an extra bonus. The staff were done if the best in the world, and they made our stay superb. I will definitely come again.
Well located and very friendly staff. The bed was comfortable and the room was immaculate. The bathroom was spacious and everything looked new or well taken care! Best motel we have stayed in during our trip out west!
The room was huge and the tile floor was very clean and non allergenic. Nice room had a refrigerator and microwave. Check-in was easy and desk person was pleasant and competent. Price was cheap for Eugene, Oregon
Clean rooms, nice laundry room, loved the little kitchenettes in the room. Perfect for long term stays.
Staff was exceptional, we even had a power outage due to weather and they all handled it amazingly.
Such a great place! It has renewed my interest in "motels". Retro but so modern. We loved being able to pull right up to the door of our room. The location was perfect. We loved it.
