Hotell i Sounkyo Onsen (Kamikawa)

Guests at Hotel Taisetsu Onsen&Canyon Resort can enjoy indoor/outdoor public hot-spring baths and request for relaxing massages. Some hot-spring baths are available 24/7. location was fantastic. short walk to tramway and hiking trails. reminds me of a giant upscale lodge in US national forest. great outdoor onsen. HUGE very good buffet for breakfast and lunch. caters to bus tours as well as individual travelers. was able to somehow avoid the busload groups in onsen and buffet so actually trip was relaxing and peaceful . saw best fall foliage on trip here. was originally assigned room that had no view . Was able to go to front desk and after studying the reservations for a while they kindly switched rooms to a great view over the canyon.

Featuring natural hot spring baths, Mount View Hotel is situated at the foot of Mount Daisetsu. Kamikawa Station is a 30-minute drive away. Free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby. Good location and cheap. I was on a cycling trip and didn’t want to have to travel farther than Sounkyo Onsen. All the nicer hotels were booked. So I booked here but then paid for a day pass to use the Onsen at one of the nicer hotels. Room was comfortable and had a nice view of the River. Room was spacious. Staff was nice.
