Situated in a tranquil area in Gifu Region, a 52-minute drive away from JR Takayama Station, Mozumo boasts a hot-spring bath and rooms decorated with modern Japanese interior. Incredible service, food, location, ambience - everything was perfect and an absolute highlight of our 3 week Japan trip.

Situated in the Okuhida Onsen district in Takayama, 29 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, Yunohirakan boasts air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. Free private parking is available on site. An excellent place to stay. Food was excellent and facilities were great. The private onsens was the main reason we decided to stay here. They had a small, medium and large private onsens on top of the public baths that were available. Very easy to access and the perfect getaway for myself and the wifey!

Offering free flowing spring water from two different hot springs and ski storage space, Oyado Eitaro is set in the Okuhida Onsen district in Takayama. Free private parking is available on site. There was a lot to like about Oyado Eitaro. The location is very convenient - only a five (maybe less) minute walk from the bus center. We dropped off our luggage before checking in and later found the bags in our room. The dinner was a wonderful experience and was probably some of the best food we had on our trip. It was a great way to try many different dishes, all of them well prepared. Breakfast was a similar experience. Both the public and private onsens were very relaxing and very clean. Overall an amazing experience. If we ever come back to the area, we’ll be looking to rebook Oyado Eitaro.

Tabist Kazeyuki in Takayama provides adults-only accommodation with free bikes, a garden and a shared lounge. Ryokan is located close to the bus station. The staff was very nice and welcoming. They gave me all the information about the hotel. The room and the hotel in general looked very nice. The was some problem with outdoor onsen and it was not available. I was informed about it in advance. However, the two indoor onsens worked as expected, so I was able to enjoy the hot baths several times during my stay. I'm a budget tourist and originally I chose this hotel because it was the most affordable in town. I didn't know what to expect, but my stay turned out to be excellent. Without experiencing living in ryokan and taking an onsen bath, my Japan experience wouldn't be full.

Offering an open-air bath and garden view, Hirayukan is situated in Takayama, 35 km from Takayama Station and 37 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village. The onsen was very nice and the rooms were beautiful. The garden in front is also special. This was a good spot from which I could visit kamikochi

Matatagpuan sa tahimik na Hida Mountains, nag-aalok ang Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort ng tradisyonal na accommodation na nagtatampok ng mga hot spring bath at mga tanawin ng kalikasan. We had an amazing stay here, the in-room onsen was a great addition! We loved the Ryokan-style hotel, and we got a really nice surprise for our honeymoon from the staff, which was really thoughtful. The food was amazing, and the private outdoor onsens were very beautiful.

At Nakamurakan, guests can relax in the indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths and enjoy traditional multi-course meals with a Nakai-san personal attendant service. The staff here were soooo friendly and helpful. Most of the front desk staff speak decent English and are super helpful. My fiance felt that the privaye onsen was a bit too hot and they were very quick in allowing us to use another one with slightly milder temperatures. The numerous reviews of the lack of cleanliness in the hotel have either been overstated or addressed. The room was very large and clean. The reviews of the onsen having algae are understandably ignorant, the algae is something that onsen enthusiasts enjoy because it (supposedly) has incredibly positive effects on your skin, and is a sign that the onsen water has not been treated with harsh chemicals. The food was incredible and you should definitely opt for the half board. Both breakfasts and dinners we had were a huge spread and very filling, we did have issues breathing after finishing our meals. It is regrettable that there are so many negative reviews which I feel are quite unfair after staying here, as they definitely did make me second guess my choice to stay here. The place has been a bit worn with age but this has only lent to its charm. The futon beds were very comfortable, and better than the ones we slept on at more expensive ryokans. I wish that the gift shop was a bit more well stocked. I hope to return to see this establishment rejuvenated in the future. Perhaps if the garden was restored and certain parts of the hotel refreshed, it would be a truly exceptional stay.
