We visited here one night only, but were blown away by the quality of the food and the exceptional service. The staff were all kind and made our honeymoon feel that much more special, including taking photos for us (which they gave framed to us later!) and a surprising gift as well. They fed us so much delicious food during breakfast and dinner as well, and we enjoyed every bite. I've been the numerous ryokans before, but this experience was truly a cut above. Would gladly go back given a chance, and loved the convenient location as well to explore Takayama. Can't recommend enough!

高山市の中心部にあるTANIYAは無料WiFiを提供しており、飛騨民俗村・飛騨の里まで3.4km以内、Gero Stationまで49km以内です。高山駅から徒歩14分の宿泊施設で、庭と無料専用駐車場を提供しています。... The building itself, as you can see from the pictures, is exquisite. If you are a fan of architecture or traditional craftsmanship, you will delight at just BEING in Taniya. This was almost a problem—I'm used to thinking of a hotel as a "crash pad" while exploring, and instead I wanted to spend hours and hours inside! Each morning was calm and peaceful: make a cup of green tea, then observe the way the light plays through the washi, the sound of water rushing by. I also particularly loved the bath; one of my favorite memories was enjoying it on a rainy, chilly night. We got home from dinner, I used the auto-fill function while I got ready for bed, then opened the window onto the courtyard and stepped in. Watching the moon through the rain, maple leaves, and steam curling up from the bath... it's like having your own personal onsen. Plus, each item in the villa was thoughtfully chosen, from the local sakes on offer in the fridge to the items provided in the bathroom to the super-soft pajamas. Even better were our hosts, who exemplified the Japanese concept of "omotenashi" (essentially, "hospitality" taken to its highest level). Well before arrival we were working with the Taniya concierge to make our plans happen (many thanks to Mahiro!). She handled making reservations at our desired restaurants and travel around town was provided as needed. Where she truly excelled was helping us troubleshoot our more ambitious ideas, such as: is there an open-air onsen near the Shinhotaka Ropeway with private baths? And how do we get there and back? The Kusakabe family were also gracious and friendly hosts, helping us along with the concierge and sharing their knowledge of Japan and Takayama plus their personal history—talking with them and touring the Folk Crafts Museum was a particular highlight, as many of the items on display are Kusakabe family heirlooms.

Such a unique and amazing experience staying at this hotel. My friends and I really enjoyed staying here. It was in a great location within the city where you can visit the many markets and shops in town. The house was very spacious with two floors and lots of unique art pieces that were in the previous museum. Definitely one of the best hotels I’ve stated in my life. We really love the added plus of having a projector at the hotel, it was great to play videos and music after coming home to the hotel at the end of a busy and cold day in the snow. 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone traveling to Takayama.

I highly recommend Tabino Shiori when you are visiting Takayama. We stayed here during the autumn festival in Takayama. The location is fantastic, super close to the shrine and all the festival events and markets. It is in the middle of all the traditional houses and streets and the house itself is super beautiful as well. The hosts are truly amazing people. They are so friendly and welcoming. We felt right at home. They also provided the option to have a traditional diner upon arrival the first day. We did this and have no regrets. It was delicious and a fun experience. The house was also very clean, there was a small kitchen and a very nice modern bathroom. I will definitely stay here again!

高山市の中心部にあるHostel Miyagawa by Murasaki Ryokanは共用ラウンジを提供しており、高山駅まで1km以内です。Gero Stationから約49km、高山祭屋台会館から約徒歩8分、上高地から約46kmの宿泊施設です。禁煙の宿泊施設で、飛騨民俗村・飛騨の里から3.1kmの場所にあります。 Hostel Miyagawa by Murasaki... Awesome location right next to the Miyagawa river across from the morning market, nice traditional style Japanese room with tatami mats and futon mattresses, had a warm and welcoming lounge area with basic cooking amenities (fridge, hot water, dishes/utensils, etc) and even free teas with snacks. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, definitely a great place to stay if you're not that proficient in Japanese (some staff spoke fluent English). They offered free baggage storage even after checkout on the same day. I should also note that the place has just opened up this march of 2024 so all the utilities (showers, toilets, heaters, etc) are brand new and work excellently. The (very spacious) room came equipped with plenty of natural light from windows, adjustable warm/cold light, a gas heater, and the aforementioned futon/electric blankets. Easily the best hostel in Takayama and possibly all of Gifu prefecture, can't recommend it highly enough.
