Lovely place with very welcoming and receptive staff. Room was spacious and luxurious with a couple of sofa ledges. Amenities provided were extensive as well, including cognac on top of regular items. Breakfast was impressive and varied, and of course its the Scottish that has porridge with whisky, who else would!

We enjoyed our stay at The Hedges. Paul and Yvonne were very friendly and responsive, and provided all the information we asked for, as well as some extra tips about the city. The room was very clean and comfortable. We also appreciated the little Scottish extras (whisky and shortbread) that were waiting in our room! We were able to store our luggage at the property as our flight only left in the evening, which was also appreciated.

It was an amazing experience to stay at Straven Guesthouse. I felt at home, the bed was very comfortable and the room was beautiful and warm. Breakfast was a whole variety of delicious dishes, home made and beautiful. The sea front is only a few steps away and I enjoyed walking along the sea promenade to the cafés - and walking along the sea shore. I felt looked after and cared for by Sinead and Chris. Location though not in the city center was actually excellent. Bus stop(s) near and couple of times we even walk from city center to our guesthouse (max 30 min walk, by bus would take as long because buses have like stops in every 100 meters). Very clean, tea/coffee making facilities in the room, biscuits, fresh milk was provided (BIG bonus points from me cause I drink my coffee with lots of milk and I don`t like those tiny separate coffee creams). Comfortable beds, enough pillows (2 for both). Kathryn is very helpful and friendly. Neighbourhood was quiet.

The establishment was quite small - only three rooms - but that only adds to the charm. The rooms are clean, charming, and equipped with everything you might need, with the exception of a microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was very clean. The owner was an absolute dream. She was nice and very helpful. I had the vegetarian breakfast and it was delicious. There is a bus stop two minutes away which is very convenient if you plan to ride the bus into the city center. The fare for a single trip on the bus, since it is a Lothian country bus, is £3 and you must have exact change to buy a ticket on the bus.
